Handel’s Homemade Ice Cream Celebrates its Grand Opening Milestone in Rocky River, Ohio

April 11, 2023 // Franchising.com // ROCKY RIVER, OH - Serving ice cream since 1945, Handel’s Homemade Ice Cream is celebrating a milestone in its home state by announcing the opening in Rocky River, OH on April 20! Handel’s is known for its made fresh daily flavors and passionate fanbase. The Buckeye State will be getting another sweet addition. The Rocky River Handel’s is located at 19935 Center Ridge Rd., Rocky River, OH 44116. The grand opening celebration begins at 11:00 am and is open to the public. The first 100 guests will be receiving Free Ice Cream For a Year.

“Ohio is the home state for Handel’s, so we are incredibly proud to expand the sweet legacy here in Rocky River,” said Morgan Rubin, General Manager for the Rocky River Handel’s Homemade Ice Cream. “I live and breathe Handel’s, having grown up with the brand. My family opened the Niles Handel’s in 2000 and I worked there when I was younger. I love what I do and am thrilled to help grow the brand that started in my hometown.”

“We could not be more excited to celebrate the opening of our Handel’s location in Rocky River, OH, just 82 miles from where Alice Handel opened her first ice cream shop in 1945,” said Rich Matherne, CEO at Handel’s Homemade Ice Cream.

An official ribbon cutting with the Rocky River Chamber of Commerce will kick off the celebration on April 20 starting at 11:00 am. Guests will also enjoy raffles, music, games, magic by Ellie Hauio, ice cream, and more!

The Rocky River store will feature local fan-favorite flavors including Black Cherry, Buckeye, Coffee Chocolate Chip, Graham Central Station, Oree-Dough, Salty Caramel Truffle, and more. The location will offer dine-in, pickup, delivery, and catering.

The Rocky River Handel’s will be open daily from 11:00 am – 10:00 pm.

The original Handel’s Homemade Ice Cream opened in Youngstown, OH in 1945. The company maintains its roots in Ohio with corporate offices in Canfield, OH and there are a number of locations throughout the state.
