School of Rock Carlstadt is Ready to Rock N’ Roll

November 02, 2023 // Franchising.com // CARLSTADT, N.J. - School of Rock will be celebrating the opening of its school in Carlstadt, New Jersey, with an event taking place at 301 Hoboken Road on Saturday, Nov. 4, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Along with a ceremonial guitar smashing (School of Rock’s version of a ribbon-cutting), the event will offer live performances, tours of the school, lesson demos and more.

School of Rock Carlstadt is owned by Dominique Abita and Dave Santamaria, who each bring their own unique musical backgrounds to the table. Santamaria, a drummer and pro audio engineer with 20 years of technology sales management, joins forces with Abita, a vocalist, guitarist, bassist, and keyboardist with a master's degree in music, to form a music education powerhouse.

The duo's shared enthusiasm for music and commitment to their community led them to open a School of Rock location. Their ties to the Carlstadt community are strengthened through partnerships with local public schools and connections to the Rutherford and Meadowlands Chambers of Commerce.

“Our mission transcends beyond mere music education. We are wholeheartedly devoted to making a difference in our communities, enriching the lives of both children and adults through School of Rock’s innovative, performance-based approach to music education,” said Abita.

School of Rock provides students of all ages an exciting and engaging music lesson experience, which includes bass lessons, guitar lessons, singing lessons, drum lessons and piano lessons. Drawing from all styles of rock and roll, School of Rock students learn theory and techniques via songs from legendary artists such as Aretha Franklin, Lenny Kravitz and Led Zeppelin. Thanks to the school’s performance-based approach, students around the world have gained superior musical proficiency, with some moving on to record deals and larger platforms such as American Idol, The Voice and Broadway.

“Dominique and Dave are exactly the type of people we look for to lead a School of Rock franchise,” said Rob Price, CEO of School of Rock. “Their diversity of musical skills enables them to offer a well-rounded and comprehensive music education experience to their students.Their passion for music education positions them to provide a high-quality learning experience for aspiring musicians, all while contributing to the growth and development of the Carlstadt community.”
