Smoke’s Poutinerie Receives Message Direct From Smoke

December 01, 2023 // Franchising.com // AJAX, CANADA - Smoke’s Poutinerie has announced that it has received word from its namesake and Brand Initiator Smoke, the Man, the Myth, the Legend, breaking his silence after only communicating through company’s Chief Entertainment Officer, Ryan Smolkin, for more than 10 years!

Smoke’s message was met with enthusiasm from the Smoke’s Poutinerie team, having had no contact with him since the passing of their Founder and Chief Entertainment Officer, Ryan Smolkin. As legend has it, many years ago, Smoke found Ryan, injured, in the wilderness near his Lego cabin in Northern Ontario. Smoke took Ryan home and nursed him back to health. During this period the two became close friends and discovered that they had a lot in common, sharing a love for Everything 80s, Glam Rock, Canada, their desire for Global Domination and most of all Poutine! Smoke shared that he always wanted to open the World’s Largest and Original Poutinerie, but unfortunately, he did not like being in the spotlight. Ryan, as we all know, didn’t mind being in the spotlight, so a perfect match was created. The two started their collaboration and created what is now Smoke’s Poutinerie! Smoke, happy with the result, stepped back into his simple life, leaving Ryan to fulfill the Dream… communicating only with Ryan, through fax (Smoke is kind of stuck in the 80s) to provide ideas and his unique insight along the way. Since Ryan’s death, the fax machine went silent… the Smoke’s Poutinerie team holding vigil, with anticipation, waiting to hear the dull hum and see the flashing lights on the dust covered fax machine…their only connection to Smoke.

The message from Smoke, when it came, was simple:

My heart is broken, words cannot express what I am feeling…I send my most sincere condolences to Ryan’s family, Smoke’s Poutinerie Team Members, Franchisees and everyone associated with the Smoke’s Poutinerie system… I wanted to reach out in fellowship to let the World know that we will be alright, we lost Ryan but will NEVER lose the direction that we set upon together, years ago… Ryan will always live in our hearts, and he will be easily seen in Our Humour, Our Creativeness, Our Entertainment, Our Drive and Our Love & Passion for our Brand. I am not going anywhere, I trust the hands in which Ryan left the Brand, and I will continue to provide my guidance and thoughts, as I have always have… by fax of course.
