America’s #1 Double Drive-Thru Brand Brings Bold Flavors and Affordable Convenience to Georgia

January 09, 2024 // Franchising.com // UNION CITY, Ga. – Start your engines, Georgia, Checkers and Rally’s is on the fast lane to Union City.

Checkers and Rally’s, the double drive-thru burger and fries’ brand, announced its latest restaurant opening in Union City conveniently situated at 4788 Jonesboro Rd. This location will be owned and operated by Abid Khutliwala, alongside his partner, Saleem Lakhani. This marks Abid’s 11th Checkers restaurant in the state, further solidifying the brand’s presence in Georgia.

“Checkers and Rally’s has been a thrilling addition to my portfolio as a business entrepreneur, initially drawn in by family ties in the food industry,” said Abid. “With 10 current locations across Georgia and a new restaurant in Union City, our focus is on creating memorable experiences for our guests guided by operational excellence.”

An experienced business entrepreneur with over 20 years in the retail wireless industry, Abid entered the franchise world in 2008, with a keen interest sparked by family and friends who were already involved in the food business. His diversified franchise portfolio, including nine Popeyes, three Moe’s Southwest Grills and a Tim Hortons, adds to his dynamic and collaborative business landscape in Georgia's franchise industry.

Recognizing the potential of Checkers and Rally's model and the appealing market opportunities, Abid’s locations span across the state, from Columbus to Atlanta and Decatur, with Union City underway.

The latest Union City restaurant highlights the continued growth of the brand, with an updated prototype look and a simplified operating model to better service the community. This opening signifies the 78th Checkers location in Georgia.
