Kolache Factory First Alabama Location

The Katy, Texas-based brand recently signed a deal to add a store in Huntsville. The new bakery-café will be located at The Foundry – Building I, 3806 Governors Drive, Suite 102. The grand opening is scheduled for late summer to early fall.

Local entrepreneur and retired U.S. Army major, Aaron Hall, is proud to open this café in his hometown. Hall discovered his passion for kolaches years ago while living in Indianapolis, where stopping in for a sausage and gravy kolache became a Sunday morning ritual. He’s now eager to share this unique culinary treat with people in his hometown. Hall, along with his ownership group, including minority partner and former NFL defensive tackle Amobi Okoye, aims to leverage the growing market of Huntsville and introduce this delicious concept.

“I get the most enjoyment trying to explain the product,” remarked Hall. “I love kolaches so much, I finally just tell people, ‘You just gotta try it!’” I've always loved the product and bringing Kolache Factory to Huntsville seemed like the perfect opportunity to offer something unique and delicious to my community. We're not just opening a store; we're introducing a whole new food experience!”

What is a kolache?

Kolaches, pronounced koh-lah-chees, originated as a fruit pastry in Eastern Europe centuries ago and took hold in Texas after the arrival of Czech immigrants in the 1850s. It didn’t take long for kolaches to get a Texan twist, so now the semi-sweet dough pastries are filled with savory meats, cheeses, and spices. With more than two dozen different flavors, kolaches have become a perfect on-the-go snack for any meal or business meeting. This new franchise aims not only to serve these delightful treats but also to educate the Huntsville community about this unique product.

Hall and his team, who have known each other since high school and college, share a vision of creating a welcoming, family-like atmosphere at their Kolache Factory Cafe.

Hall's journey from a military career to franchise ownership reflects his diverse interests and entrepreneurial spirit. His background in accounting and experience in property ownership, combined with his team's expertise, including a chef partner, positions the Huntsville Kolache Factory for success.

“I’ll be working back of house, serving as the general manager of this location,” explained Hall. “You can bet that just about every day, I’ll be eating a kolache!”
