Sylvan Learning Welcomes Educator and Veteran as Franchise Owners in Delaware

March 21, 2024 // Franchising.com // BALTIMORE - Sylvan Learning awarded a new territory in N. Wilmington, Delaware, to Adria Bondanza and Michael Walters.

Bondanza is a high school science teacher with nearly three decades of experience in education. Walters is a retired Navy submariner with experience in sales and retail management. Bondanza will maintain her career in the classroom while Walters oversees the day-to-day operations of the center.

“We’re excited to make this investment in our hometown of Wilmington,” said Bondanza. “I’ve seen firsthand how far behind students have become in the classroom, so this will be a way for us to help bridge the gap.”

After losing her mother to cancer last year, Bondanza is reinvesting the money she left her into the center. “We wouldn’t have been able to do this without her, and I know she would be proud that the money is going towards something we truly care about,” said Bondanza.

Walters shares in Bondanza’s passion for helping others achieve a strong educational foundation. “After suffering from a bad car accident a few years ago, I was reminded that I am still here for a reason,” he said. “Rather than finish my education, I went into the military and later realized the value in establishing an educational foundation as I watched my son go through school. I was meant to help students like him invest in their education because they are the future of our world.”

Sylvan Learning has been producing proven results for students for more than four decades. Now, as students and educators nationwide work to close the gap from pandemic-related learning loss, its resources are in more demand than ever. Similarly, more educators than ever are exploring business ownership with the brand to provide personalized educational support to their communities.

“We’re thrilled to welcome Adria and Michael as new owners in Delaware,” said Jeff Stephenson, Vice President of Franchise Development at Sylvan. “Their partnership and past experiences make them strong partners, and we’re looking forward to supporting them as they venture in franchise ownership together.”
