SYNERGY HomeCare Expands Its Presence Along Rhode Island’s Coast

March 29, 2024 // Franchising.com // Tempe, Ariz. - SYNERGY HomeCare has announced its newest Rhode Island-based company, SYNERGY HomeCare of Newport, which is now the brand’s second location in the state.

The company is owned and operated by Iyabode Alfred, who has an incredibly diverse resume with over 27 years of experience in healthcare, ranging from working on the frontlines as a registered nurse to managing business operations to serving in the C-Suite of a nationally recognized non-profit home health provider.

Iyabode will now serve residents of Newport, Kent, Washington and Bristol from her company’s location at 372 Broadway, Unit A2, in Newport. SYNERGY HomeCare of Newport will provide the residents of these communities with a wide variety of non-medical care options, from companion care to personal care and respite care.

Thanks to the unique perspective provided by her multiple roles throughout the healthcare industry, Iyabode was able to recognize a growing need for these services, particularly among Baby Boomers.

She has attended several well-renowned universities and institutions throughout the country, earning a Bachelor of Business Administration, a Master of Nursing Science and a PhD in Education on Nursing.

Since obtaining her academic qualifications, Iyabode has put them to use in several different healthcare settings. In her young professional career, she spent her days in hospitals working as a registered nurse, where she directly provided lifesaving care and compassion. As Iyabode progressed through her career, she continued to climb the corporate ladder with nursing service providers and home health providers, where she held multiple managerial roles and ultimately reached the rank of Vice President and Chief Operating Officer for the Visiting Nurse Association of Albany.

Although she was excelling professionally, Iyabode still wanted to pursue a more personal, community-centric passion, which is what led her to SYNERGY HomeCare. She recognized that opening her own homecare franchise would not only allow her to continue to put her medical knowledge to use, but it would also allow her to maximize her managerial abilities while giving back to her community.

“My decision to get into homecare was heavily influenced by my 27 years of professional experience in adjacent industries, but ultimately, it was my genuine desire to help others that drove me to join the field,” said Iyabode. “Throughout my career, I’ve been a results-driven, business-oriented professional, and now, I’m excited to translate that drive into directly contributing to my community. I know I have the means to address a growing societal need and I can’t wait to make a difference.”

The Newport area is home to numerous healthcare facilities, a growing number of retirees and a community of people who want to age independently in the comfort of their own home. Many of these residents stand to benefit from caregivers for assistance with cooking, shopping, running errands, doing light housekeeping, or going for walks. They can even receive personal care, such as help with bathing, dressing or using the toilet.

“Our company philosophy is rooted in a deep commitment to exceptional care, personalized attention and a level of service that goes beyond the ordinary,” said Iyabode. “With my 27 years of nursing experience along with my leadership knowledge, our agency stands apart in its ability to provide informed, reliable care to the community. We are not just a home care agency, we are a compassionate ally dedicated to improving the quality of life for those we are privileged to serve.”
