Vapiano Franchisee Signs Lease In Dallas

First of 10 Vapiano Locations in Texas will be Found at Mockingbird Station

February 03, 2009 // Franchising.com // Washington, D.C., — Vapiano area developer and franchisee, Tim McCallum of McCallum holdings, will open the first of his 10 restaurants at Mockingbird Station in Dallas, Texas. The innovative fresh casual restaurant and lounge will fit perfectly in the upscale center found at 5319 Mockingbird lane off of the 75 Central Expressway.

McCallum has developed a solid business and management plan and has rights to develop the areas in and surrounding Dallas and Fort Worth, Texas for the next nine years. With plans to see the first store open by April 2009, he hopes to open his second location by April of 2010 and subsequent locations soon after. McCallum also has the option of expanding Vapiano in other major metro areas throughout Texas including prime territory in Austin and San Antonio.

"Our first Vapiano location is going to be incredible," says McCallum. "People in Dallas appreciate unique upscale food, but they appreciate a great value as well. Vapiano offers an upscale restaurant and dining experience at a fair and reasonable price, especially compared to typical restaurants in the Dallas area. I know it's going to be a perfect fit."

Currently Vapiano International operates nearly 45 restaurants in fourteen countries and expects to open 44 to 55 new locations by the end of 2009. In the U.S. alone the company has closed deals for six stores in Southwest Florida, ten in Dallas, two in San Jose, five in Houston and three stores in Boston, Detroit and Atlanta. New international locations are in the making throughout Mexico, Australia, Bulgaria, Romania, Czech Republic, Serbia, Croatia and France. Open international locations include 26 in Germany, two in Holland and Hungary and one in Belgium, Estonia, London, The Netherlands, Austria, Sweden, Saudi Arabia, Switzerland, Poland, Turkey and the UAE.

Vapiano recently announced expansion into major markets including Detroit, Atlanta, Houston and Dallas. With 80 units in development through just the next four to eight years, Vapiano will put this new capital to great use. Vapiano's U.S. operations began two years ago when they opened a head office in McLean, Virginia and three company stores in the metropolitan Washington, D.C. area. The fourth, much-anticipated D.C. location will open in February of 2009.

In 2008 Vapiano was awarded the coveted title of Hot Concept! from Nation's Restaurant News and appeared in Fast Casual Magazine's list of 'Movers and Shakers' for the second year in a row. The company was named one of the top ten "Best Employers" in Germany for 2008. Vapiano President, Kent Hahne, was named a finalist for CMO of the Year by Booz Allen Hamilton in 2007. In 2006, Vapiano won the European Hot Concept Award from Food Service Europe & Middle East.
