Jersey Mike's Subs Franchise Raises Funds For Palm Bay Elementary At Grand Opening

Owner Celebrates with Free Subs

August 11, 2010 // Franchising.com // Melbourne, FL - Jersey Mike's Subs opened its first store in Melbourne, FL. Jersey Mike's owner Bryan Price knows the importance of community relations and celebrated his ties with the area during his grand opening on Aug. 11.

To commemorate the event, the new restaurant, located at 1515 Palm Bay Road in the Stack Crossing Shopping Center, hosted a 5-day fundraiser from Wed., Aug. 11 through Sun., Aug. 15, with proceeds supporting Palm Bay Elementary School. Anyone who had a fundraising coupon received a free regular size sub with a minimum $1 donation. More than 7,500 coupons were distributed throughout the community.

"For our fundraiser, we decided to support the local education system and Palm Bay Elementary School is the perfect choice," said Price. "Education is extremely important and we wanted to get students excited for the school year. Working closely with Lori Migliore, the principal at Palm Bay Elementary, we have developed a solid plan to support the kids and the school. We look forward to building meaningful relationships with our new neighbors and invite everyone to come in and join us in support of Palm Bay Elementary," he said.

Palm Bay Elementary serves grades PK-6 in the Brevard County Public Schools District and received a GreatSchools Rating based on state standardized tests.

Reaching out to the community is a key component of Jersey Mike's mission. All franchise owners find ways to support their neighbors and employees are encouraged to volunteer their time and talents as well. "Melbourne is Bryan Price's hometown and he knows how important it is for local businesses to contribute to the community," said Peter Cancro, Jersey Mike's founder and CEO. "We wish Bryan every success and we are confident he will be a leader in business and in the community."

Price was initially attracted to Jersey Mike's because of the family atmosphere and product quality. "When I met a few Jersey Mike's team members at a local golf tournament, I knew I had to take part in this franchise. Everyone at the stores and in the home office is kind-hearted and friendly," said Price. "I grew up in Melbourne. It's a great community and I'm looking forward to bringing the number one sub sandwich concept to the area," he said. His favorite Jersey Mike's sub is the #6 -- the famous Roast Beef and Provolone -- done "Mike's Way".

Store hours are 10 a.m. to 9 p.m., Monday to Sunday. You can contact this store directly at (321) 473-8996.

Jersey Mike's, a sub sandwich franchise with more than 475 stores open and under development nationwide, has a long history of community involvement and support. Started at the Jersey Shore in 1956, Jersey Mike's serves authentic Northeast-style subs on fresh baked bread – the same recipe it started with over 50 years ago. The company's mission is to bring its customers the highest quality, freshest made sub in the industry and give back to the communities in which it operates.
