Sonoma Chicken Coop To Nest In New York

Seasoned Restaurateurs to Open Eight Units of California-based Restaurant Throughout New York

October 29, 2008 // Franchising.com // San Jose, CA, — Sonoma Chicken Coop, the Northern California-based high volume fast casual chain, signed a multi-unit franchise agreement with business partners, Mitchell Segal and Golan Zinger, representing their company, New York Dining Group BH Inc. The group will bring an initial five units to Nassau, Suffolk, Queens, Kings and Richmond counties in New York, and an additional three restaurants in markets to be determined.

Segal and Zinger have owned and operated several restaurants throughout their long careers in business and are currently scouting prime real estate for their first location, which they plan to open by the end of the first quarter of 2009.

Sonoma Chicken Coop began their nationwide expansion earlier this year. The fast growing chain has secured three additional multi-unit franchise deals bringing eight new restaurants to California and three to New Jersey. SCC expects to have two open units in Northern California and one in Northern New Jersey by early 2009.

"Sonoma Chicken Coop stands apart from restaurants in the fast casual sector," says Segal. "Sonoma offers the food quality and experience we've come to expect from casual dining chains, but at a fast casual price. In these economic times especially, we will bring significant value to a family who wants a high quality dining experience without spending a fortune, and people are looking for that."

Sonoma Chicken Coop serves a wide variety of specialty foods such as pizza, pasta, entrée salads, sandwiches on house-made bread, steaks, ribs, fish, chef quality appetizers, desserts and their famous rotisserie chicken. All items are made to order, fresh from scratch.

Since the original Sonoma Chicken Coop opened in San Jose, California over five years ago, the fast-casual restaurants have enjoyed high average unit volumes of over $4.5 million per store according to the company's Franchise Disclosure Document.

"Sonoma Chicken Coop generates higher volumes than any other fast casual restaurant chain that I have ever seen," says Dan Rowe CEO of Fransmart, the Alexandria, Virginia based franchise development company that helps SCC grow nationally. "I am not

surprised about their rapid growth- Sonoma Chicken Coop is extremely appealing to both fast casual and casual dining operators."

Sonoma Chicken Coop has received high profile awards since it opened in 2002. It was named "Best Dazzle for Dimes" in Metroactive's "Best of Silicon Valley," as well as "Best Family Restaurant" by San Jose Mercury News in 2006. Sonoma was also the first place winner of the 2007 "Best of Silicon Valley" Staff's Pick and Reader's Survey. In 2008, Sonoma was honored by Wave Magazine as Reader's Choice of "Best American Restaurant" and "Best Family Friendly Dining."
