Competitive Eating Challenge Comes to the New Submarine House Bar & Grill

May 01, 2014 // Franchising.com // Hilliard, OH - The Submarine House Bar & Grill is looking for the biggest appetites in town. Now through May 25, Columbus' newest sports bar is giving patrons a chance to see if they can eat the almost four pound, 16" Super Duper Cheese Steak in 16 minutes or less. If successful, they will receive their sandwich for free and win a Challenge T-Shirt. The 10 best qualifying times will win a spot in the Finals on Saturday, May 31. The overall champion will win a free 8" cheese steak every week for the next year.

However, the fastest eater will not be the only winner. Submarine House Bar & Grill is allowing people to stop in and register to win $5,000 cash in a drawing to be held at the finals on May 31, at 1pm. To be eligible for the $5,000 prize, visit the Submarine House Bar & Grill located in the Kroger Center at the corner of Hilliard-Rome and Roberts Road before May 31, and simply fill out an entry form. The Super Duper Cheese Steak Challenge originated in Dayton and just completed its fourth year, drawing hundreds of contestants from all over Ohio. "We hope to build this event in Columbus to be even bigger than Dayton's over the next few years," said Franchisor Brody Danner. "It is also our plan to help raise money for a worthy Columbus charity next year. We raised almost $18,000 for Dayton Children's this year and think we can generate a significant donation in central Ohio too," Danner said.

The Submarine House Bar & Grill is fast becoming a popular place for sports fans. They have numerous flat screen TV's, an expansive full bar and a menu featuring unique cheese steaks and oven-toasted submarine sandwiches.
