Massage Heights Co-Founder Selected To Participate In Reebok Crossfit Games

Wayne Evans One of 80 Selected to Participate in Elite Competition July 21-23

July 13, 2015 // Franchising.com // SAN ANTONIO – Wayne Evans, co-founder of Massage Heights and current Vice President of Human Resources for the franchise, has been selected to participate in the 2015 Reebok CrossFit Games, held July 21 to 23 at the StubHub Center in Carson, California.

Evans secured his spot by placing 11th out of 2,600 participants that tried out to compete for the title of Fittest on Earth™. He is currently ranked 12th in the world in the 55 to 59-year-old age group.

As Wayne prepares for the games his workouts become more intense, making regular massage therapy an important part of his training regimen. While exercising at a high intensity rate, as CrossFit athletes do, the body produces lactic acid and general toxins in the muscles that interfere with electrical signals, slow energy reactions and impair muscle contractions. Incorporating therapeutic massage in a fitness regimen can help the training and recovery process for an athlete’s body, increase range of motion by lengthening the muscles, reduce muscle fatigue, soreness, inflammation and pain while also increasing blood flow and circulation.

To train for the event, Evans exercises rigorously five times per week. He hopes to place in the top five in the upcoming competition.

“This has been a dream of mine for so long. I was a collegiate track and field athlete with dreams of making it to the Olympic games, but after graduation my life took a different direction. Now I’m 54 years old and headed to the World CrossFit games,” says Evans. “Determination, discipline and massage are what it takes, along with an amazing support staff. I’ve seen first-hand how CrossFit has changed people’s lives and health for the better and I am no exception.”
