New Jobs Created As The Joint Chiropractic Opens New Clinics In Atlanta

Largest Employer Of Chiropractors To Accelerate Hiring To Meet Demand

September 17, 2015 // Franchising.com // Atlanta, GA - The Joint Chiropractic, a leader in chiropractic care, today announced plans to hire more doctors and staff in the Atlanta area as it expands to meet the growing demand for chiropractic care. In the past three years, The Joint and its franchisees have hired nearly 250 employees, including 92 chiropractors, for its 27 open clinics in Georgia. Accelerating patient demand at new and existing clinics is driving additional recruiting. In the first eight months of 2015, The Joint recorded more than 200,000 patient visits and welcomed over 15,000 new patients.

Among those who stand to benefit directly from this trend are graduates of locally-based Life University, the largest chiropractic college in the world. The Joint is fast becoming the single-largest employer of chiropractors in the nation with about 850 doctors working for The Joint’s network of 270 company-owned, operated and franchised clinics nationwide. Erika E. Henry, DC, of Dunwoody, graduated from Life University in 2011 and held a private practice for three years before joining The Joint in Sandy Springs in April 2014. According to its website, Life University encourages students to ‘do something different: to think outside the box, to innovate and to challenge themselves, their classmates and the world.’ “I believe The Joint has been doing that since its inception,” said Dr. Henry. “By challenging traditional healthcare models, The Joint is making routine chiropractic care an affordable option for families nationwide.”

Clyde Jean, DC and Jay Rosen, DC, both graduates of Life University, have joined one of The Joint’s new clinics, which opened at 410 Peachtree Parkway in Cumming in late August. The Joint has also recruited Jeff Kilheffer, DC, a graduate of National University of Health Sciences in Lombard, IL, to be the full-time doctor at a new clinic that recently opened at 4279 Roswell Rd. at Chastain Square in Atlanta. The company plans to open three more before the end of the year, which will bring the total number of clinics in the state to 30.

Patient-first care model bypasses insurance

The Joint’s growth can be attributed to its affordable, patient-centered model that attracts both new and long-term patients who want to feel better and maintain an active lifestyle. Approximately 20 percent of new patients at The Joint have never been to a chiropractor before, evidence that the company’s unique approach to delivering care is attracting patients who might not have considered chiropractic.

Feedback from patients at The Joint underscores the quality and value. A resident of Blue Ridge, GA said, “This is one of the best chiropractic [clinics] I've been to in 20 years. Can't believe I only pay $49 a month for 4 adjustments. I was paying more when it went through my insurance. So happy with the care I [have] gotten since joining.”

“Our unique approach to healthcare gives consumers an alternative way to access quality chiropractic care,” said Patrick Greco, D.C., owner of The Joint Midtown and a graduate of Life University in Marietta. “It appeals to consumers who prefer to pay for some of their routine healthcare services directly using cash instead of insurance premiums. Having more than one approach available in the market makes it easy for patients to find the option best suited to their individual needs. This ultimately helps the profession by bringing the benefits of chiropractic to more people.”

The Joint’s patient-centered, retail healthcare model is very different than the norm. It begins with The Joint’s membership approach which eliminates insurance hassles. Patients can choose from several plans, including a monthly plan that includes up to four visits at a cost sometimes lower than the patient’s average insurance co-payment for a single visit. Patients can receive treatment at any of The Joint’s nationwide locations near their home, while traveling for work or on vacation. Appointments are not required, and all clinics have extended and weekend hours.

Dr. Greco explained, “We generally start by helping people reduce chronic pain, then transition to wellness and maintenance care to prevent pain from recurring. We refer patients to specialists should they require care resulting from accidents and need to use workers’ compensation or other forms of insurance.”
