A Place At Home Celebrates Dynamic Franchisee Trista Johnson for Women’s History Month

March 11, 2024 // Franchising.com // THE WOODLANDS, Texas - Going from the courtroom to caregiving is not something Trista Johnson originally envisioned for herself, but three years in, she wouldn’t change a thing. As a franchise owner of A Place At Home, Johnson is leading a team of dozens of caregivers to help serve her community in and around The Woodlands, Texas.

“My desire to make a tangible difference in people's lives inspired me to transition from law to senior care," said Johnson. “Seeing the direct impact of our work on families and their aging loved ones has been incredibly rewarding.”

In July of 2021, Johnson, together with her husband Adam, opened their A Place At Home location, driven by personal experiences in the senior care industry. Navigating the aftermath of her father’s stroke highlighted the need for better senior care.

“The recovery journey for my dad and mom revealed the critical need for compassionate, quality in-home care, pushing me to open my own care service,” said Johnson.

Under Johnson's leadership, A Place At Home has earned significant recognition, including the 2023 Home Care Pulse Employer of Choice awards and the 2024 Employer of Choice and the Provider of Choice awards. These awards are a testament to the franchise’s excellence in caregiver and client satisfaction.

“We’re dedicated to providing compassionate care that allows seniors to age gracefully in their homes. Receiving recognition for these efforts is not only an honor but also motivating,” Johnson added.

Looking ahead, Johnson aspires to grow her client base and enhance service offerings. While growing her business and raising two boys with her husband, she’s also going to school to become a registered nurse so they can offer services such as medication management, injections, or hospice.

“Our goal is not just to go beyond the direct care needs of our community. By expanding our services, we aim to fill the gaps in care many families face,” Johnson shared.
