Driving Growth Through Innovation Across the Home Franchise Concepts Portfolio

Innovation in home services is about more than launching a new product or service – it is about responding to how homeowners live, work and care for their spaces. From smart-home automation and streamlined renovations to on-demand restoration, flexible cleaning and premium pet care, customer expectations are evolving quickly across every category.

Home Franchise Concepts operates at the intersection of such shifts, supporting a portfolio of 10 home service brands that span improvement, restoration, cleaning and pet services. While each brand serves a distinct customer and market need, all are united by a shared focus on innovation that drives better experiences for homeowners and stronger growth opportunities for franchisees.

In the following roundtable Q&A, Home Franchise Concepts President and CEO Corey Benish, along with brand leaders from Budget Blinds, Kitchen Tune-Up, Bath Tune-Up, Lightspeed Restoration, Two Maids and Aussie Pet Mobile, share how new products, services and technology investments are shaping the future of their brands – and positioning franchise owners for continued success.

Innovation Across 10 Brands:

Corey Benish, president and CEO of Home Franchise Concepts

1. With brands spanning home improvement, restoration, cleaning and pet services, how do you approach product and service innovation across this portfolio while keeping each brand’s identity distinct?

A primary advantage of being a multi-brand home-services platform is that we get to see the market from many angles at once. We are continuously monitoring changes in consumer behavior, technology, search trends, pricing and competitive dynamics across the entire home-services ecosystem. That allows us to spot emerging shifts early, whether it is how homeowners are finding providers through AI-powered search, how expectations for speed and transparency are changing or how new products and materials are reshaping what “great service” looks like. We don’t wait for disruption to arrive at our doorstep. We work to see it coming and prepare our brands to lead into it.

At the same time, innovation does not happen in a vacuum or from corporate alone. Each of our brands has a distinct customer, a distinct promise and a distinct way they win in the marketplace. That is why product and service innovation is driven inside each brand, in close partnership with franchisees and their Franchise Advisory Councils. Those groups are closest to the customer and the local market. They help shape new offerings, service models, pricing structures and experiences that elevate that brand’s unique position while staying true to what makes it special.

We then layer on our platform as a force multiplier in shared innovation. When we identify opportunities that can benefit everyone, such as evolving our SEO strategy for AI-driven search, building AI-powered sales and call-center coaching, or developing better customer data and marketing technology, we can invest once at an enterprise level and then scale that advantage across all brands. Individual brands get to move faster and further than they could on their own, while still maintaining their distinct identities.

That balance, brand-led innovation supported by platform-level investment, allows us to protect what makes each brand unique while continually raising the bar for the entire portfolio and the customers we serve.

Heather Nykolaychuk, president of Budget Blinds

2. Budget Blinds continues to push forward in motorization and automation. What are the newest product advancements in this area, and what customer needs are they designed to address?

Budget Blinds is advancing motorization by offering tiered solutions that range from simple wand control to full smart home automation, so customers can choose the level of technology that fits their lifestyle and budget. Smart Home Hubs and platforms allow homeowners to control multiple window coverings by app, remote or voice, and to create schedules and scenes that automate light, privacy and temperature management throughout the day.

The portfolio now extends to both interior and exterior motorized shades, addressing needs like screen glare reduction, outdoor comfort and whole-home coordination of light control. These innovations are designed to increase everyday convenience and accessibility, particularly for hard-to-reach windows or customers with mobility limitations. They also support energy efficiency and comfort by helping regulate heat gain and glare, while cordless designs and automated schedules enhance child safety, privacy and perceived security when the home is unoccupied.

These advancements also elevate design, allowing customers to pair clean, cordless aesthetics and minimal hardware with a wide range of fabrics, colors and styles, so technology disappears, and the overall look stays tailored and cohesive.

3. How are trends in smart-home technology, accessibility and energy efficiency influencing demand for motorized window treatments?

Smart-home technology, accessibility needs and energy-efficiency priorities are converging to significantly increase demand for motorized window treatments. As whole-home platforms like Alexa, Google Home and Apple HomeKit become mainstream, homeowners increasingly expect shades to integrate seamlessly with scenes, schedules and voice control, elevating motorization from a luxury to a standard smart-home feature. Rising focus on accessibility is also a major driver, since motorized blinds remove the physical strain and reach challenges of manual cords and wands, giving greater independence to people with limited mobility or hard-to-reach windows.

At the same time, energy costs and sustainability concerns are pushing more consumers toward automated shades that can manage solar heat gain, retain warmth in winter and reduce HVAC load, sometimes cutting energy use by double-digit percentages. Together, these trends are reshaping expectations so that customers now look for window treatments that deliver not just style, but intelligent control, everyday ease of use and measurable performance benefits.

4. What impact have these automation-focused offerings had on Budget Blinds franchisees in terms of differentiation, sales conversations or overall growth opportunities?

Automation-focused offerings have become a key differentiator for Budget Blinds franchisees, positioning them as smart-home and motorization specialists rather than traditional window coverings retailers. By leading with integrated, cordless and app- or voice-controlled solutions, franchisees can align directly with consumer demand for convenience, safety and connected living, which strengthens local brand presence and referral potential.

These products also deepen sales conversations, shifting the focus from basic light control to solving broader needs like energy efficiency, child and pet safety, hard-to-reach windows and whole-home automation. That expanded value story makes it easier to recommend premium systems and layered solutions, often increasing average ticket size and mix of higher-margin projects. In turn, access to a robust automation portfolio opens doors to both residential and lite commercial opportunities, supporting long-term territory growth and reinforcing the position of Budget Blinds in the fast-growing smart window coverings category.

Jarrett Smith, interim president of Kitchen Tune-Up & Bath Tune-Up

5. At Kitchen Tune-Up, what new products, materials or service models are emerging as homeowners look for faster, more flexible or more cost-effective kitchen updates?

At Kitchen Tune-Up, cabinet refacing continues to be our No. 1 service, and demand keeps growing. Homeowners want to dramatically change the look of their kitchens without the cost, disruption or timeline of a full remodel.

We’re seeing strong interest in moving back to traditional wood finishes along with the popular painted and non-wood door options, paired with strategic lighting upgrades and accessories that improve organization and function. One of the most popular enhancements right now is converting base cabinets to drawers, which can be done as part of a refacing project or incorporated into a full redesign.

Because we offer five distinct ways to update a kitchen, we are able to meet homeowners wherever they are, whether they want a light refresh or a more comprehensive transformation, all while staying aligned with their budget.

6. Bath Tune-Up has seen strong momentum in recent years. What new solutions or service enhancements are helping franchisees meet demand for efficient, high-impact bathroom transformations?

At Bath Tune-Up, high-impact transformations are being driven by two things: smarter storage and a more spa-like daily experience.

Homeowners are looking for better storage solutions that reduce clutter while elevating the look of the space. We are also incorporating special features, such as lighted niches, custom storage and thoughtful design details that make the bathroom feel intentional, not utilitarian.

Our curated product collections play a big role in meeting demand efficiently. They simplify the selection process for homeowners, reduce decision fatigue and ensure the final result looks cohesive and elevated, which allows our franchisees to deliver beautiful bathrooms with confidence and consistency.

Paul Ebert, group president of Lightspeed Restoration, Two Maids, Aussie Pet Mobile and AdvantaClean

7. Lightspeed Restoration operates in a time-sensitive category. What new tools, services or operational innovations are helping franchisees respond faster and deliver better customer outcomes?

Lightspeed Restoration is built for moments when every minute matters. Our franchisees are supported by 24/7 national call and dispatch capabilities, ensuring emergency calls are answered immediately and routed to local teams without delay. With integrated job management technology, crews can mobilize faster, communicate clearly and keep customers informed from the first call through project completion. Industry-leading training and certification ensure technicians arrive prepared to assess damage quickly and take the right action the first time helping reduce disruption and begin recovery sooner.

Behind the scenes, Lightspeed Restoration equips franchisees with professional-grade restoration equipment, proven operating systems and insurance navigation expertise that remove friction from an already stressful situation. By combining rapid response, advanced tools and a customer-first approach, Lightspeed Restoration helps homeowners and businesses move from crisis to confidence delivering faster resolutions, better outcomes and peace of mind when it is needed most.

8. Two Maids has differentiated itself with a focus on customer experience and flexibility. How is the brand evolving its service offerings or technology to meet changing consumer expectations?

At Two Maids, we know our customers are busier than ever. We have always made it simple to get clear pricing and book a cleaning directly through our website. In 2026, we are taking that a step further with the launch of Two Maids Online, a customer portal that gives people even more flexibility. Customers will be able to reschedule appointments, update payment details and add or upgrade services anytime – from their phone or computer – making it easier to manage their cleaning around their lives.

9. Aussie Pet Mobile blends mobile convenience with premium pet care. How are shifting pet ownership trends influencing new services or enhancements within the brand?

At Aussie Pet Mobile, we are seeing pet ownership continue to evolve, with more owners treating their pets as true members of the family. That shift is driving demand for care that is not only convenient, but also personal, gentle and premium. Our mobile grooming model meets pets where they are most comfortable right at home, reducing stress while delivering one-on-one, high-quality care.

As pet parents juggle busy schedules, convenience matters more than ever. By bringing the groomer directly to the driveway, we save time, eliminate travel and create a seamless experience for both pets and their owners. At the same time, growing expectations around personalization and well-being are shaping enhancements to our services, from customized grooming plans to spa-style upgrades designed around each pet’s unique needs.

We are also leaning into technology to match how today’s pet owners manage their lives – making it easier to schedule, communicate and stay connected throughout the grooming experience. Together, these trends reinforce our commitment to delivering a premium, stress-free service that reflects how deeply people care for their pets today.
