Behind The Blind Side: Keynote Speaker Shares Details Behind the Hollywood Blockbuster Movie

Overcoming obstacles and facing adversity will be part of the game plan when Sean Tuohy keynotes at the upcoming Multi-Unit Franchisee Magazine Multi-Unit Franchising Conference in Las Vegas in April.

Tuohy, along with his wife Leigh Anne, entered the public consciousness a couple of years ago when their story of adopting homeless teenager, Michael Oher, was first turned into a New York Times #1 bestseller. The story was subsequently made into a Hollywood blockbuster movie, The Blind Side, featuring Oscar winner Sandra Bullock. Oher was a talented athlete who went on to be a first-round draft pick in the NFL where he's now an offensive lineman for the Baltimore Ravens. But there's more to Tuohy's story than the inspirational movie reveals.

Tuohy had his own hardscrabble life growing up in New Orleans. But he was a talented athlete who worked hard. A basketball scholarship took him to the University of Mississippi where he broke every major SEC assists-related record and became a legend in the SEC Hall of Fame for leading the Ole Miss Rebels to their first and only championship.

Following a short stint in professional basketball, Tuohy followed his entrepreneurial bent and entered the business world. Today he operates 70 fast food restaurants, including Taco Bell and Long John Silver's.

He is also now in his ninth season as an NBA broadcaster for the Memphis Grizzlies basketball team, following several years as an analyst for radio broadcasts at Ole Miss and national broadcasts for Westwood One and CBS radio. Despite his busy professional schedule, he still finds time to stay involved with his community, church, and a charity organization he established.

When Tuohy speaks to audiences, he invites them to go behind-the-scenes of the Tuohy household with a heartwarming message: "In our house, we believe in miracles." Sharing personal anecdotes with his signature southern charm, Tuohy brings The Blind Side to life. From the perspective of a dedicated father and inspirational coach, he asks listeners to consider a simple question: how many other kids just like Michael Oher are falling through the cracks every day? And how can we make an impact big enough to change a broken system?

Don't miss Tuohy, and other motivational and industry speakers, at the 2011 Multi-Unit Franchising Conference, April 27-29 at The Venetian in Las Vegas. Registration information can be found at http://www.multiunitfranchisingconference.com.
