Cookies by Design Signs Multi-Unit Master Franchise Deal for Ontario, Canada

Cookies by Design has announced its first multi-unit international master franchise agreement. The deal is for development of the Ontario, Canada market. In addition, the company is looking to open more than 30 locations internationally over the next 3 years, primarily through a mix of territory and master development agreements.

"We see international expansion as one of the next major opportunities for our growth," said Jack Long, CEO and president of Cookies by Design. "We have a tremendous opportunity for franchisees interested in helping us expand our brand throughout the world."

As part of the initiative to expand globally, Cookies by Design has partnered with Atlanta-based FranCounsel Group to help identify prospective development partners specifically in the Canadian, GCC (Gulf Cooperative Council), and MENA (Middle East and North Africa) markets.

"The Cookies by Design franchise is a compelling combination of a unique business proposition, proven system, powerful branding, and multiple revenue streams," said Bachir Mihoubi, CEO of FranCounsel Group. "It's a flexible model that can be scaled quickly with a very reasonable cost of entry."

Cookies by Design was founded in 1983 as Cookie Bouquet by Gwen Willhite. The estimated investment of $115,000 to $215,000 includes the initial franchise fee of $30,000. As of mid-2018, the brand had 65 locations across the U.S. (4 in DFW) and a 12,000-square-foot production facility in Plano that serves the DFW market and ships products daily nationwide by UPS. As a participant in the IFA's VetFran program, the company offers a discount on initial fees to military veterans.
