Entrepreneur Magazine's Top 200 U.S. Franchises Growing Abroad

The July 2018 issue of Entrepreneur magazine published a list of the top 200 U.S. franchises looking to grow abroad. Key factors in compiling the ranking included costs and fees, number of units, growth rate, support, brand strength, financial strength, and stability.

More than 1,000 franchise brands (1,023) submitted their disclosure documents and responded to an online survey conducted by the magazine. Another requirement: the list was limited to companies seeking new franchisees outside the U.S. and that already had at least five units open abroad as of July 2017.

Here are Entrepreneur’s numbers for the top 25 franchise brands, listing their rank in the listing, U.S. units, non-U.S. units, and corporate-owned units. Interestingly, seven of the top 10 are fast food brands (7-Eleven, Kumon, and RE/MAX being the two exceptions), while the next 15 on the list are dominated by service brands and contain only two food brands (Arby’s and Denny’s).
