Tustin, California-based Pieology Pizzeria has opened its first location in the U.K. and is eyeing further expansion on the region. The new owners are Kim Nagpal and Gavin Sutharmasellan of Camyabco Ltd.
“Pieology boasts a strong franchising team, a huge fan base, and a creative product for sale,” said Sutharmasellan, who also cited the positive attractions of the brand’s personalized pizzas, salads, beverages, sides, and sweets.
The U.K. opening, says Nagpal , will provide the company with a gateway for opening additional restaurants in other parts of the U.K. and Europe. Pieology already has expanded into Mexico, Spain, and China.
According to market analysts, in downtown London, one in five casual dining restaurants closed during the pandemic, and now there is a land rush to fill the vacancies and meet soaring customer demand for franchised food brands such as Pieology.
“We are excited to start our journey in the U.K .and look forward to bringing both Gavin and Kim’s food service experience and expertise to the brand,” said Pieology CEO Gregg Imamoto.
The couple entered the QSR market in 2016 with a passion focused on the “create your own” concept. “Every day we set out to offer our customers the very best. Pieology is the perfect fit for us,” said Sutharmasellan.
Pieology, founded in 2011, is a 130-restaurant franchise committed to making a positive difference in the communities it serves, “one pie at a time.”
