Seasoned Multi-Unit Operator Acquires 64 Sonic Locations

Yaron Goldman has been busy. Earlier this year the two-brand multi-unit operator signed on to open his first Fuzzy's Taco Shop. Now, he's just inked a deal to acquire 64 Sonic Drive-In restaurants located primarily in the Southeast.

The CEO of SD Holdings, which also operates McAlister's Deli and MOD Pizza locations, is excited to acquire the Sonic units and is looking for even more growth in the coming years. The Sonic acquisition brings his portfolio of four brands to more than 100 locations in 6 states.

"Sonic is an iconic brand with an entrepreneurial spirit and rich heritage encompassing more than 60 years, and we are excited to join its family of franchisees," said Goldman. "A shared philosophy around relationships as a way of life really drew us to the brand and we look forward to continuing to deliver the one-of-a-kind menu items and dining experience Sonic's loyal fans and guests know and love."

Goldman began his career in franchising in 1996 as an hourly employee at McAlister's Deli. He founded SD Holdings in 1999 in North Carolina, opening his own McAlsiter's Deli locations and building a reputation for strong restaurant operations in the quick service restaurant and fast casual industry.

His new Sonic acquisitions include 27 of the brand's drive-ins in Alabama, 5 in Georgia, 19 in Tennessee, and 13 in Virginia.
