Welcome to the New Franchise Update International Report!

At Franchise Update Media we have made it our business for more than three decades to be the premier authority and resource for franchise information, education, and opportunities. Through our two magazines, three conferences, four newsletters, and content-rich website, we continue to bring timely, relevant, and useful news and information to franchisees, franchisors, and opportunity seekers.

Over the years, we’ve developed a sense for spotting emerging trends in franchising. One such trend we’ve been tracking for years, and the reason for this inaugural newsletter, Franchise Update International Report, has been the rapid growth of international, cross-border franchising – much of it made possible by technology.

Franchise Update International Report will be similar in style to our other newsletters. You can expect original content, guest columns, news, press releases, and more – all focused on international franchising.

As competition in the U.S. for franchisees and consumers heats up and the best markets become saturated, more domestic brands are thinking globally – some going to places previously untouched by franchising, others seeking to expand their presence in established markets. Equally interesting is the increase in the number of  foreign-based brands looking to establish a presence in the U.S. No matter how you look at it, this is a rich and dynamic time for global franchising!

To help franchisors understand the complexities and differences, as well as the similarities, of branching out into new countries, we decided now is the time to launch a newsletter focused on international franchising. We plan to cover all aspects involved in setting up a successful foreign organization: strategies and tactics, legal and regulatory barriers, sales and development, cultural and demographic adaptation, operations and training, supply chain and budgets, technology, and other relevant information and data to help brands grow.

Want to learn more in person? Along with MFV Expositions, we’re co-producing the first-ever annual European Master & Multi-Unit Franchising Conference this October 23–24 in London. For more information on the program, speakers, location, and how to register, click here.

We’d love to hear from you about what else you’d like to see in future issues of this newsletter, along with your international news, challenges, and success stories to share with us or our readers.

That’s all for now. Please enjoy this inaugural issue of Franchise Update International Report and expect to hear more each month about how franchising is going global!
