DENVER, November 8, 2006 - Today, neighborhood fitness center, 1-2-3 Fit, announced its' national participation in the Salvation Army's Angel Tree program. The program pairs local businesses with needy children in the community to provide toys and clothing during the holidays, a luxury these children would otherwise go without. Working together, the two organizations will collect and distribute gifts throughout the community and help to bring some holiday cheer to families in need of assistance.
During the week of November 13th, nineteen 1-2-3 Fit clubs, as well as the corporate office, will begin collecting gifts by displaying an Angel Tree with gift tags provided by the Salvation Army. Each tag lists the name and age of a needy child, as well as a gift he or she has requested. Members and employees of 1-2-3 Fit will be encouraged to select tags from the tree, purchase the gift and return it to the club. The Salvation Army will return to pick up the gifts on December 15th, just in time to distribute them for the holidays.
The Salvation Army's Angel Tree program typically runs throughout the holiday season and attracts business sponsors from across the nation. This is 1-2-3 Fit's first year participating in the program. During the month-long drive, each club will be offering enrollment incentives to new members who donate to Angel Tree upon joining.
"We're excited that the Salvation Army has chosen to partner with us for their Angel Tree program," said 1-2-3 Fit's CEO, Brooksy Smith. "We take great pride in our commitment to developing happy, healthy communities and look forward to working with such a well-respected organization to further this commitment."
