June 26, 2007 // Franchising.com // - Steve Jackson, president of Hungry Howie's Pizza, has received the Ernst & Young Entrepreneur Of The Year 2007 Award for the Central Great Lakes region in the Restaurant / Hospitality Services category.
Jackson was selected by an independent panel of judges and was recognized at the competition's regional awards presentation in Dearborn, Mich., June 14.
"Building this business over the past 34 years has been a labor of love, and it is rewarding to be honored by people who understand the challenges of establishing a presence in a competitive marketplace like ours," said Jackson, who heads the 565-store pizza chain. "I may be the figurehead to accept this award but without everyone's hard work to make Hungry Howie's the great company it is, I wouldn't have had this opportunity."
As a Central Great Lakes award winner, Jackson is now eligible for consideration for the Ernst & Young Entrepreneur Of The Year 2007 national program. Award winners in several national categories, as well as the overall national Ernst & Young Entrepreneur Of The Year award winner, will be announced at the annual awards gala in Palm Springs, Calif., Nov. 17.
