November 01, 2007 // Franchising.com // - Snap-on Tools has launched a drive to become the top franchisor in the world with a reorganisation of its top management.
The Kettering-based company is building rapidly after winning the UK Franchisor of the Year award in May 2007 against 700 other franchisors. The British Franchise Association awards, sponsored by the Daily Express and HSBC Bank, honour the franchise sector's annual £10 billion contribution to the UK economy.
Terry Barcham has been promoted to the role of managing director – Snap-on Tools Europe. Adri van Groningen, managing director – Netherlands and Holger Zibulka, sales manager – Germany will report directly to him.
In the United Kingdom, Aldo Rodi has been promoted to national sales manager responsible for the growth of the franchise system. The United Kingdom branch managers will now report directly to Aldo.
In announcing the changes, Barrie Young, President - Sales and Franchising said: "Terry's leadership experience in the United Kingdom and Ireland will allow us to expand the reach of the Snap-on franchise throughout continental Europe. These changes support our vision to become the global franchisor of choice."
Additionally, Ajit Ponnambalam, managing director – Australia, will gain responsibility for the Snap-on operation in South Africa. Andrew Wilson, managing director – South Africa, will report directly to Ajit.
Terry Barcham said: "The internal promotions are a move in response to the need for company to translate success in the UK into the European market and beyond. We have established presence in Germany Holland and Belgium - and we are looking to increase market share in dramatic fashion.
"We want to take our business to a higher level with opportunities to develop a very successful business across the continent. We saw a dramatic increase in the German business when the former East Germany was opened up so we know the potential is there, including the Scandinavian countries and East Europe."
Aldo Rodi said: "We want to consolidate and build on Franchisor of the Year Award. We are going to continue to improve our franchisee network and improve the range of our products. We have nearly one company employee for every two franchisees and it has to one of the best ratios in the whole of franchising. Our Branch structure where we support the franchisees in the field is our strongest weapon – six regional offices with a dedicated team of around six field managers who each look after 12 franchisees. Our 36 field managers provide the vital and most dynamic link between the Company and the network."
