Krispy Kreme and Taste of the South Magazine Award Prize for Best Dessert Recipe in America
WINSTON-SALEM, N.C.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Nov. 7, 2007--Krispy Kreme Doughnuts, Inc. (NYSE: KKD) and Taste of the South magazine announced today the winner of The Ultimate Krispy Kreme Recipe Contest. Stephanie Matthews, from Tempe, Ariz., was named the grand-prize winner with her recipe for Extreme Pumpkin Cheesecake, a pumpkin-flavored cheesecake, made with Krispy Kreme Cinnamon Twists and Krispy Kreme Pumpkin Spice Cake Doughnuts.
In a first-of-its-kind search for the ultimate Krispy Kreme doughnut dessert recipe, more than 1,700 recipes were submitted. The top ten recipes were created to be sampled by an executive judging panel that included Mark Kelly, marketing communications manager of Lodge Manufacturing; Phyllis Hoffman, president of Hoffman Media; Ron Rupocinski, executive chef for Krispy Kreme; Lorna Reeves, editor of Taste of the South magazine; and Don Logan, former CEO of Time Inc.

Matthews's original recipe for Extreme Pumpkin Cheesecake won her the grand-prize package which included Lodge cookware, a Viking mixer and Krispy Kreme gift cards - valued at $1,700.
