Company supports soldiers this holiday season
PITTSBURGH, Dec. 14 // PRNewswire // -- GNC has announced it will donate $5 of each $25 gift card purchased in its military base stores this holiday season to the Wounded Warrior Project, a non-profit organization that assists American service members who have been severely injured in the line of duty.
GNC's donations will help fund a full range of programs designed to ease the burdens of wounded military and their families, aid in the recovery process and smooth the transition back to civilian life.
"During the busy holiday season especially, 'living well' means more than good nutrition - it means a good quality of life with friends and family," said Tom Dowd, executive vice president at the company's Pittsburgh headquarters. "These service members and their families made great sacrifices to allow us that opportunity, and we can't thank them enough."
GNC has long dedicated itself to the military's wellness needs: 108 stores are actually located on military bases across the continental United States, Puerto Rico, Alaska and Hawaii, as well as Guam, Japan, Korea and Bahrain (coming soon). GNC products are also available in commissaries and AAFES (Army and Air Force Exchange Service) overseas exchange locations.
"On behalf of thousands of service members, we want to thank GNC for its dedication to our nation's heroes," said Executive Director John Melia of the Wounded Warrior Project. "This commitment will ensure the tremendous personal sacrifices that service members make for their country are not forgotten."
The mission of the Wounded Warrior Project is to raise public awareness and enlist public aid for the needs of severely injured servicemen and women, to help severely injured service members aid and assist each other, and to provide unique, direct programs and services that meet their needs.
