Maximize the Look & Feel:

Seek out the areas where you can cut down on the wasted space.

1. Turn remote areas into storage - underneath enclosed staircases, adding storage units to wide hallways.


2. Maximize the attic – add plywood to exposed rafters to create more storage space.


3. Organize what you've already got – by hanging tools on the garage wall, putting bats and balls in a bucket, and stacking books and old paperwork in the basement, you can free up valuable space and give you more room to breathe.


4. Substitute CD jewel cases and DVD boxes for multimedia binders.


5. Make your next computer purchase a laptop.

Bathroom:

Small adjustments will make big improvements to your valuable space.

1. Hang a storage unit on the wall for storing extra towels and various toiletries.


2. Create space by tastefully placing shelves which can add a decorative touch and double as storage.


3. Use a shower rod as a storage device, by attaching extra hooks that can be used to hang items that take up space elsewhere.

Bedroom:

Anytime you can create more space in a bedroom you should.

1. Use a headboard storage unit or a chest at the foot of the bed to store seldom used items.

Kitchen:

Room to cook will help greatly when preparing breakfast, lunch, or dinner.

1. Free up counter space by putting small appliances, such as a microwave or coffee maker, on shelves above the counter


2. When putting away tapered glassware alternate from right side up to upside-down.


3. Arrange wooden spoons and other awkward sized utensils in a canister.


4. Throw out old pots and pans, or any other kitchenware that may be past its use.


5. Store infrequently used appliances to free up counter space.

Laundry Room:

Use flat bins for under-the-bed storage.Clean out the clutter as you clean your clothes.

1. Keep a bag or basket handy for cloths that need special care, or are designated for donation.


2. Add shelves to house detergent, bleach, fabric sheets, etc.

Living Room:

Create more living space with what you have available to you.

1. Put low bookcases behind sofas.


2. Use a chest or ottoman as a coffee table - or buy a coffee table with storage built in.


3. Build shallow display units between studs in the wall.


4. Minimize the pieces of furniture that clutter your floor.


5. Use corner bookshelves to create interest and maximize use of available space.

Baby-minded:

These are tips for anticipating the arrival of your baby.

General:

1. Free up space by donating clothing you no longer wear - added bonus: you are doing good for others and receive a tax write-off.


2. Toy chests in playrooms help reduce clutter.

Kitchen:

1. 1. Hang sharp knives inside high cabinets to save drawer space and keep them out of reach of children.

Nursery:

1. Choose a crib that fits your room size – pack and plays, portable cribs, corner cribs, convertible cribs, or cribs with drawer space will help give those with limited space some wiggle room.
