TWO MEN AND A TRUCK(R) presents the "Citizenship Award" to FAU's quarterback

December 31, 2008 // Franchising.com // Detroit, Mich. – TWO MEN AND A TRUCK® honored Rusty Smith from Florida Atlantic University with the "On the Move" Citizenship Award Dec. 24 for his commitment to his team and the community. FAU receives $5,000 from TWO MEN AND A TRUCK® toward its athletic scholarship fund.

The award was presented at the Motor City Bowl luncheon Dec. 24.

This is the ninth year the company known as the "Movers Who Care" has presented awards to one player on each team participating in the Detroit-based bowl game. The winners are recognized for outstanding sportsmanship, good citizenship on and off the field, involvement in community activities and leadership abilities that contribute to a positive team atmosphere.

"One of our core values is to give back to the community," said Mary Ellen Sheets, TWO MEN AND A TRUCK® founder. "That's why we believe it's important to recognize tomorrow's leaders and those who play a role in developing future leaders."

Smith is a quarterback for the FAU Owls. He holds the single-season years mark for 3,688 and in 2007 was ranked No. 29 nationally in total offense. He volunteers for numerous community activities including the Fellowship for Christian Athletes and the Palm Beach Sports Commission Kids Fitness Festival. He also speaks frequently at both high schools and elementary schools in Boca Raton, Fla. Smith is an information management major from Jacksonville, Fla.
