Cousins Subs(R) to Collect Books for Local School Library

Community book drive to help expand library selection

MILWAUKEE, Wis. (November 11, 2011) - Cousins Subs® located at 1150 Miller Park Way in West Milwaukee will host a book drive beginning Friday, Nov. 18 to collect books for a local school library in need. Guests who donate a book from the list of needed books will receive a coupon for a free 7 1/2" sub.

"Reading is so important for young people," said Maria Piotter, co-owner of Cousins Subs along with her husband Mike. "We are happy to help expand the options available for students by circulating more books. It would be great to have every book on the list donated."

The books will be donated to Prince of Peace School, located at 1126 South 25th St. in Milwaukee. According to Katie McCaig, physical education teacher/librarian at Prince of Peace, the current library selection is narrow and many of the books are well-worn. The library, which was just started at the beginning of this school year, is housed in a cleared-out storage room and has a collection of old books from closed down schools.

"We would love to receive some bilingual books to cater to the students who use Spanish in their homes," said Vanessa Zamarripa, store manager of the West Milwaukee Cousins Subs. "This is such a valuable effort, and I know the students will benefit from the outreach of the community."

Prince of Peace will provide a list of the books and how many of each are needed to Cousins Subs where guests can take a look at the selection. The school hopes to provide students with more than one copy of popular titles and is asking the community to donate new or slightly used books for the cause. The book drive will take place from Nov. 18 until Dec. 2 or until the list of needed books is fulfilled.

About Cousins Subs

Cousins Subs, based in Menomonee Falls in suburban Milwaukee, is a restaurant specializing in East Coast-style submarine sandwiches made with the finest ingredients served on a variety of freshly baked breads, along with salads, soups, chips and soft drinks. The tradition of Cousins Subs started in 1972, when two transplanted cousins from Atlantic City saw the need for an East Coast-style sub shop in their new hometown. They patterned their subs after the hoagie, grinder, hero and sub sandwiches they enjoyed back East. And with a dedication to delivering quality subs at fair prices, they opened their first restaurant. From the start, the two used bread baked fresh every morning and insisted on using only the finest, freshest ingredients. For more information, visit www.cousinssubs.com.
