Dahn Yoga practice and principles are based on Korean cultural traditions. So this year, Dahn Yoga & Health Centers, Inc., a national leader in health and wellness, is featuring a section on Korean culture in its monthly newsletter, Dahn Yoga Life.

Gilbert, AZ (PRWEB) June 30, 2012 - Dahn Yoga principles are deeply rooted in Korean culture, with many key historical and philosophical elements expressed wordlessly as part of Dahn Yoga practice. In order to help those who become acquainted with Dahn Yoga understand it better, Dahn Yoga is providing a monthly exploration of Korean cultural concepts. This year, Dahn Yoga & Health Centers, Inc., a national leader in health and wellness, is featuring a section on Korean culture in its monthly newsletter, Dahn Yoga Life. This month’s issue explores the Korean concept of “Jeong” and how it is expressed in Dahn Yoga practice.

“Jeong” is a Korean word expressing deep affection.” The concept is so important in Korean culture that it became a topic of conversation at a US-Korea summit meeting. “Jeong” best expresses a universal Korean sentiment that is not easily translated into a single word in English. One Korean-English dictionary defines it as ‘feeling, love, sentiment, human nature, sympathy, heart.’ Actually, it may include all of these meanings and more.

The various meanings attributed to the word may relate to emotional ties that are developed as part of the unique Korean culture of community. Relationships to family, neighbors, co-workers, even pets and homes reflect a combination of mutual support and affection. It is very likely that most people who have attended Dahn Yoga classes or just visited a Dahn Yoga center, have felt a unique sense of welcome and community. Understanding the concept of “jeong” will provide useful insight for the visitor and seasoned practitioner alike. With the goal of promoting cultural understanding, this new feature of the Dahn Yoga newsletter will also help many people get more out of their Dahn Yoga practice.
