The Brown Bag Welcomes its First Franchisee

The Brown Bag has sold its first franchise location at 818 18th Street NW in Washington, DC.

Washington, DC (PRWEB) December 05, 2012 - The Brown Bag is thrilled to announce the opening of its first franchise location at 818 18th Street NW in Washington, DC. Amin Siddiqui, owner of the first Brown Bag franchise, is excited to begin and proud to be part of The Brown Bag family. After 6 years as a process engineer, Amin decided to start his own company, an online e-commerce business, which continues to be very successful; but he wanted to branch out into another avenue—and The Brown Bag is just what he was looking for in a franchise restaurant. For Amin, who’d never been in the restaurant business before, a franchise seemed like the smartest way to go. He didn’t want to reinvent the wheel, and with The Brown Bag, he didn’t have to. Amin bought the 18th Street location from Brown Bag owner and founder, Erich Fuldner. The restaurant has been open since 2004, so Amin walked into an established business with a loyal customer base, vendor relationships in place, a trained staff and a franchisor who was more than willing to help. His situation is a little different than your traditional franchisee that would open a restaurant in a brand new location, but The Brown Bag is committed to making every beginning as successful and stress-free as possible. Delicious, healthy food, a creative menu, seasonal specials, and an active catering business keep each restaurant busy and bustling; and their motto of “Cuisine on the Fly,” so important in our fast-moving world, keeps customers coming back for their favorites.

For a busy guy like Amin, with a family and another business to attend to, this franchise fit his lifestyle perfectly. The Brown Bag has ideal business hours for people looking for a job that leaves them time for family and other leisure activities (or another business); the restaurant is open from 7:30 AM to 3:30 PM, Monday through Friday. Combine this schedule with great food, a great location, established clientele and impressive brand recognition, and Amin knew he had a winner. "I really like the fact that the restaurant is right by a metro station--it has great foot traffic, and we stay very busy," says Mr. Siddiqui.

Each Brown Bag franchise has the same great quality, healthy food that The Brown Bag is famous for, which is one of the first things that attracted Amin. In the future, Amin hopes to add more soups to the menu, fresh fruit and oatmeal for breakfast. He hopes to hear from his customers, too. Says, Mr. Siddiqui, “I’d really like to hear from our patrons—what they like, what’s not working, what they want to see in the restaurant. I really want them to know that we’re open for suggestions. And catering! We’d love to do more catering!”
