Workers’ Compensation Fraud Program Unveiled by AtWork Group

National staffing firm provides up to $10,000 for reporting and winning suspected abuse cases.

Knoxville, TN (PRWEB) September 17, 2013 - AtWork Group, an award-winning national staffing franchisor, has announced the creation of a Workers’ Compensation Fraud Reporting Program that provides a monetary reward for AtWork cases that are reported and settled in the company’s favor.

"To my knowledge, this is the first program of its kind to be launched by an individual corporation rather than by a state or federal agency," said Jason Leverant, chief operating officer of AtWork Group’s corporate headquarters in Knoxville, Tenn. "We believe our program will not only make it easier for employees and others to report suspected workers’ compensation fraud, but by offering a financial reward, we will see a reduction in the number of fraudulent claims filed by workers each year."

The program, launched earlier this month, offers a step-by-step process for those with knowledge of an AtWork employee’s suspected fraudulent claim including a fact sheet, a list of compensation payouts, terms and conditions to be met, and a detailed form to be filled out and submitted. Those completing the form can submit a report anonymously, but the reward will be reduced. According to the terms, the successful prosecution of a fraud case could be worth up to $10,000, depending on the amount of payments collected, benefits paid out and other criteria.

According to Kurt Murray, a principal with Assurance Agency, a national broker specializing in providing business insurance services, "With workers’ compensation fraud cases, employees most often exaggerate an injury, claim the injury occurred at work when it didn’t or say they were hurt when no one else was around to witness the injury."

"False claims don’t just hurt the business," Murray stresses, "the costs involved in paying fraudulent claims gets passed on to policyholders, taxpayers and the general public."

The Workers’ Compensation Fraud Reporting Program is being rolled out first with AtWork Group’s 16 company-owned locations in Arizona, California, Maine, Missouri, Pennsylvania and Tennessee. AtWork’s 37 franchise locations nationwide will have the opportunity to participate in the fraud reporting program following the corporate launch.
