The owner of this location, Rob Johnson, is thrilled to open a Mellow in Clearwater: “The Clearwater area is a great fit for Mellow Mushroom. It has a great history, charm and a well-established neighborhood feel, though still a great family destination,” explains Johnson.
The menu features a variety of pizzas, hoagies, salads, calzones and appetizers. Options for vegetarians, vegans, kids, and those on a gluten free plan are also available.
Mellow hopes to provide a haven for locals and tourists alike. Guests will first no doubt recognize the store by the large, illuminated historically registered tree. Towering above the restaurant by approximately 50 feet and measuring in excess of 100 feet in width, this LED lit, full canopy tree will be a homing beacon for everyone around town, signaling the good times to be had inside.
Inside, a 10 ft. mushroom bench serves as a perfect respite to chill out on while waiting for your table. Upon entering the restaurant under colorful lights, guests will be greeted as if beachside by an artfully interpreted sun and shade scene, enhanced by rainbow colored clouds. Waves, vibrant colors and a clean architectural aesthetic establish the baseline of the space as a welcoming and familiar environment, but special surprises reward the keenly observant. You may find yourself seated at the pirate’s cove table, a carved wooden compass tabletop with a ship’s steering wheel chandelier hanging above.
This location also features a full service bar with a wide array of liquor, craft beer and wine options, with a large portion of the draft wall dedicated to local breweries, which have been sprouting up throughout the Tampa Bay area the past few years. Integrated into the back bar, under the prismatic pizza explosion mural across the bar’s soffit, are multiple televisions for guests to catch their favorite games. More festive artwork continues on your path along to the patio. Once there, diners will be entertained by a light show and can visit the robo-pirate in the garden area for a photo opportunity so everyone can remember this special night. Thought-out, bright 70s themed colors pull the store together and create a lively and comfortable environment for any guests.
