Mosquito Joe Plans to Raise Funds During Mosquito Control Awareness Week from June 23 to June 29, 2019

In addition to announcing its fundraising plans, the 323-unit pest control franchise shares actionable consumer protection tips.

VIRGINIA BEACH, VA. (PRWEB) June 17, 2019 - Mosquito Joe, a Neighborly company, is pleased to announce its seventh annual Beat the Bloodsuckers fundraising campaign in observance of Mosquito Control Awareness Week which occurs from June 23 to June 29. For each new customer serviced during Mosquito Control Awareness Week, Mosquito Joe franchisees will donate a portion of their proceeds to benefit charitable organizations.

The American Mosquito Control Association declared the last week in June as Mosquito Control Awareness Week, aiming to educate the general public about the importance of mosquito control. Mosquito Joe franchisees give back by raising funds for organizations including Nothing But Nets, the American Red Cross or local blood banks in their communities. For the third year, the outdoor pest control franchise has partnered with the UN Foundation’s Nothing But Nets initiative which raises money and awareness for malaria, a deadly but preventable illness transmitted by mosquito bites. Franchisees who join forces with Nothing But Nets will donate $10 from each new customer serviced during Mosquito Control Awareness Week, which will provide two life-saving, insecticide-treated bed nets to families who live at risk of contracting malaria. Franchisees are also able to partner with the American Red Cross or a local blood bank in their area. Mosquito Joe franchisees will donate 5 percent of the proceeds from every new customer serviced during Mosquito Control Awareness Week. Mosquito Joe corporate will match the franchisee donation to total a 10 percent donation to the American Red Cross or local blood bank.

Since 2017, Mosquito Joe has collectively donated more than $62,000 through its charitable giving through the Beat the Bloodsuckers campaign. The company is aiming to experience double digit percent growth from last year’s contribution of $31,344.

“We are passionate about making outside fun again, and one of the ways we do that is by rallying our franchise system, together raising awareness and funds for charitable organizations like Nothing But Nets and the American Red Cross,” said Mosquito Joe President Lou Schager. “Because mosquitoes can continue to return if the source of the problem isn’t treated, education about mosquito control is critically important. Each year, Mosquito Control Awareness Week allows us to extend our reach beyond our pest control services to educate consumers how they can protect themselves and their families.”

Mosquito Joe Technical Manager and Associate Certified Entomologist David Price anticipates that mosquito breakouts will begin 30 days earlier than normal, due to the unseasonably cold or warm winter weather, rain and snow storms, depending on the region.

“The natural increase of two degrees across the United States will create humidity that will escalate the mosquito population across the U.S., with my research pointing to all regions having a dramatic increase, with the Southwest staying consistent with 2018,” said Price.

To help people enjoy the outdoors this summer, Price offered the tips below to deal with mosquitoes:
