Scenthound to Open Four New South Florida Grooming Locations This Winter

Jupiter-founded concept strengthens its South Florida presence with new franchisee-owned “Scenters”

December 07, 2020 // Franchising.com // Jupiter, FL - On a mission to keep dogs healthy and clean, locally-founded Scenthound is opening four new grooming locations in South Florida this December and January. The brand, which offers dog parents simple membership options to ensure their dog is getting the routine care it needs, currently has five corporately-owned locations, all in Palm Beach County. The Lake Worth location will also be corporately owned, and the other three new locations will be owned by local franchisees who are eager to bring Scenthound to their communities. Just the beginning for its local expansion, these locations are the first of at least 10 new units that are set to open in South Florida. The new Scenters will be located at the following addresses:

The new local owners come from a variety of backgrounds but all have one thing in common: their love for dogs. The Coral Springs location will be a family business, owned and operated by the Klein family, who have lived in the area for 25 years. Stacy, Jason, and their son Brandon chose to open a Scenthound because the brand’s wellness-based approach will improve the quality of life for dogs in the area. Prior to joining Scenthound, Stacy was a special education teacher, while Jason has been a dentist in the area for almost 25 years.

“We feel that we can really make a difference in the lives of the dogs and their parents in our community,” said Stacy. “With Jason’s career in dentistry, we know the importance of regular maintenance visits and catching things early on. We got to know Scenthound and realized these concepts are just as important with your pets! We are so excited to help dogs avoid health problems and keep them comfortable and clean.”

The Coral Gables location is the first of five locations coming to the Miami area, all to be owned by Mariano Espinosa, who previously spent over 20 years working at PepsiCo in corporate finance. His last role was Chief Financial Officer of a $1.3b Foods business in Brazil where he spearheaded all financials aspects of the business. He says he was drawn to Scenthound because it is a business that runs on love.

Scenthound takes a wellness-based approach that is dedicated to improving the quality of life for dogs. Embedded in the name, Scenthound focuses on the five core areas of maintenance: Skin, Coat, Ears, Nails, and Teeth. Their Scent Techs are fully trained to give each dog the care it requires -- regardless of the breed -- and the membership program allows for dog parents to have the peace of mind that their dog is cared for on a routine basis. Pet parents can select a membership plan most appropriate for their dog and add additional services on an as-needed basis.

The concept was founded in 2015 after CEO Tim Vogel spent more than 10 years running both a mobile grooming business and local grooming shops, seeing first-hand the shortcomings within the booming pet industry and the lack of education surrounding dog grooming. Vogel began a mission to give dogs and their owners a fast, easy, and affordable solution that not only keeps them clean and looking great but maintains their overall health and wellness.

“Not only are we expanding nationally, but we are strengthening our presence right here at home,” said Vogel. “We are so excited to be joined by some amazing franchise partners who are ready to take care of the dogs in their communities across South Florida. With each new Scenter that opens, we are able to continue to remove barriers so that people can love and connect with their dogs every day.”

By January, Scenthound will have 10 Scenters open and 25 franchise locations in development across four states.
