April 09, 2025 // Franchising.com // Tempe, Ariz. – SYNERGY® HomeCare has announced its newest location based in the Tampa Metropolitan Area, SYNERGY Homecare of Apollo Beach.
The company is owned and operated by Dr. Franshea Vandross, an ultimate entrepreneur, who splits her time between working as a pharmacist, business owner, and real estate agent. Now, Dr. Franshea is also adding caregiver to her already impressive résumé.
Dr. Franshea and her team of compassionate caregivers will assist residents of all ages throughout Hillsborough County, with a wide variety of non-medical, in-home care services, from companion care to personal care and respite care.
Dr. Franshea’s extensive background in healthcare and personal experience in caregiving allowed her to notice the growing need for these services in the area, particularly among Baby Boomers. U.S. Census statistics show that 10,000 Baby Boomers are turning 65 every day and that by 2030, there will be more than 70 million people over 65. According to the AARP, over 80% of this demographic reports wanting to remain in their own homes for as long as possible.
Since graduating from Florida A&M University with a doctorate in pharmacy, Dr. Franshea has become comfortable wearing multiple hats and contributing to her community in several ways. She has spent the past 15 years working as a pharmacist, earning numerous certifications along the way. Eight years ago, she decided to purchase her own pharmacy and has since branched out to several other healthcare ventures. When she isn’t handling these businesses, she also spends her time working as a licensed Florida real estate agent.
Amidst her hectic professional life, Dr. Franshea was also tasked with helping provide care for her father, Reverend Frank Steward, as his health began to decline. During the process, her father’s only request was to remain at home, and despite her family’s best efforts, they experienced several difficulties when trying to accommodate not only his wishes but also their work-life balance. Although her father eventually passed, the experience inspired Dr. Franshea’s new passion to help others in the same position navigate the aging process with grace, dignity, and success.
“My father is my real-life superhero and supported me throughout my entire life,” said Dr. Franshea. “I believe it was my responsibility as an adult child to reciprocate that same support in his time of need, and I know countless other people who also feel the same. Despite my best efforts and my background in healthcare, the process was still extremely challenging. I want to be the driving force that can provide the resources to simplify the experience for the rest of my community.”
According to realtor.com, Sun City was voted the top retirement community in the United States. With a median age of 71 years old, many residents of Hillsborough County often need to rely on caregivers for additional assistance cooking, shopping, running errands, doing light housekeeping, or going for walks. Some even require personal care, such as help with bathing, dressing, or using the toilet.
“Our mission is to be a catalyst for change, filling in the common gaps of the care process with compassion, education, and dedication,” said Dr. Franshea. “We not only want to assist our community with maintaining their independence and dignity, but we also want to provide a safe haven for friends and family members to feel secure in knowing their loved ones are happy and attended to.”
