The company is owned and operated by Afifa Yusof. Yusof has an extensive professional background, spanning 27 years working in the insurance sector, including owning her own insurance agency, 11 years in finance, 15 years working as a volunteer with Meals on Wheels, and a lifetime of providing care to loved ones.
Yusof and her team of compassionate caregivers will assist residents throughout Ashland, Jamestown, Prairie Home, Columbia, Rocheport, Wooldridge, Prathersville, Shaw, Stephens, Midway, Harg, McBaine, Pierpont, Deer Park, Ginlet, Cedron, Ashland, Englewood, Hinton with a wide variety of non-medical, in-home care services, from companion care to personal care and respite care.
Throughout her experience as a family caregiver, Yusof noticed how many other people in her community needed these same services, particularly Baby Boomers. U.S. Census statistics show that 10,000 Baby Boomers are turning 65 every day and that by 2030, there will be more than 70 million people over 65. According to the AARP, over 80% of this demographic reports wanting to remain in their own homes for as long as possible.
Yusof’s entire life has been defined by her compassion for others. As the oldest of eight siblings, she was immediately tasked with caregiving responsibilities, many of which persisted into adulthood. In recent years, Yusof has coordinated and provided care for her adoptive mother in California, both of her biological parents in Colorado, and her oldest son, who lives with a mental disability. In all of these cases, Yusof was the primary source of support, ensuring that her loved ones’ medical, personal, and daily living needs were met.
“My lifelong dream is to help those who need someone, particularly the elderly and the disabled,” said Yusof. “I’ve worn many hats throughout my life, but none of them have provided me with as much fulfillment as being a caregiver and working with Meals on Wheels. Helping my own family and the vulnerable residents of my community has taught me the true meaning of compassion and dignity, and the value behind personalized care.”
Yusof’s natural caregiving prowess is complemented by her wealth of professional experience. Her career began in banking before she transitioned into the home and auto insurance industry, where she spent 27 years and bought and sold her own agency. Following that experience, caregiving became more of a focal point in Yusof’s life, though that didn’t stop her from also working as a financial advisor and regular volunteer with Meals on Wheels. Now, Yusof is ready to fully dedicate herself to the caregiving industry.
“I believe in karma – when we provide genuine, high-quality care to those we serve and those who serve with us, that care comes back in meaningful ways,” said Yusof. “Many agencies promise quality; we exemplify it in every interaction, every service, and every relationship. My lifelong mission is to help individuals receive the dignity, compassion, and respect they deserve, and now as a full-time caregiving professional, I plan to commit myself to that mission more than ever before.”
Columbia is home to three major medical institutions, which often help nearby residents with a number of problems. However, many of these individuals live with chronic conditions or disabilities that persist long after their hospital stay has ended.
