May 28, 2026 // Franchising.com // WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. — Outdoor Lighting Perspectives (OLP) of The Piedmont is proud to announce a partnership with Lighting Boss to design and install a custom outdoor lighting system at Hawley House, a women’s shelter in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. The project will be completed at no cost to Hawley House or the YWCA of Winston-Salem, which referred OLP to the shelter.
The initiative was born from a personal connection: the CEO of the YWCA of Winston-Salem, a friend of OLP of The Piedmont owner Ivan Dixon, brought the shelter’s lighting needs to his attention. What followed was a swift commitment to act - not just as a business, but as a neighbor. OLP of The Piedmont and Lighting Boss will design and install lighting specifically chosen to help the women staying at Hawley House feel safe, secure and supported.
“When we decided to buy our franchise, we knew we wanted it to be more than a business — we wanted it to be a way for our family to give back to this community,” said Rachael Dixon, owner of Outdoor Lighting Perspectives of The Piedmont. “When I heard about Hawley House and what these women are going through, it was an easy decision. Good lighting isn’t just about beauty. It’s about feeling safe when you walk outside at night. That’s something every person deserves.”
Hawley House provides a refuge for women who have experienced domestic violence, homelessness or other crises. A well-lit environment plays a meaningful role in residents’ sense of security, reducing anxiety, deterring threats and signaling that the community stands behind them.
“The YWCA Hawley House provides hope and a new future for so many women in need in our community,” said Christy Respess, CEO of the YWCA of Winston-Salem & Forsyth County. “Having Outdoor Lighting Perspectives, supported by Lighting Boss, step up to donate their expertise and their time at no cost to us is a powerful reminder of what this community is capable of. This gift not only enhances the beauty of our house but also the safety. We are deeply grateful.”
