June 24, 2026 // Franchising.com // SEATTLE – A Pierce County woman received a 24-Hour Home Makeover from TRT+, a collective of real estate agents within Keller Williams Mountains to Sound who are passionate about serving the community, in partnership with HomeVestors®, with support from the area HomeVestors team who volunteered their time and homebuilder contractors to complete the project. Inspired by Keller Williams’ Annual RED (Renew, Energize, Donate) Day, an international company-wide day of service, the group brought together vendors, businesses, volunteers, and community partners to complete the renovation for homeowner, Joy, with joy in record time.
Joy was nominated and selected after a lengthy process after she recently experienced the heartbreaking loss of her fiancé and partner of over twenty years, and is also recovering from surgery. Widely known within her community as someone who continually gives to others without ever asking for anything in return, Joy’s servant heart made her story deeply resonate with TRT+.
“I think it’s important, especially in the world we live in today, that we think long and hard about where our resources go and about the people all around us in our own communities who have very real needs,” said Carla Clark, a member of TRT+. “This project gave us an opportunity to walk beside someone who gives, cares, and shares. We were so blessed by all of the volunteers, sponsors, and local businesses that showed up, who have also gotten to know Joy a little bit more. Loss, pain, and scarcity are hard things. To know that people you may not even know love you, care about you, and want to walk beside you — I just think we could use more of that in the world.”
RED Day was founded in 2009 as a way to uphold Keller Williams’ philanthropic responsibilities to the communities it serves, like Seattle, where TRT+ tries to make sure its members show up in the lives of other people. Originally, the team wanted to come in and do some sort of transformation, because that’s what they regularly do when preparing homes to sell. But the
more they got to know Joy and how little she was asking for, the more they felt this was a great opportunity to also bless the contractors and vendors they work with every day by bringing them along on the journey.
A complete transformation took place. The team of community partners installed all new carpet, painted the full interior, put in new lighting throughout, updated the bathroom and kitchen, added garden boxes, performed an extensive yard cleanup, and even planted a memory tree for Jamie, Joy’s late partner. Painters are returning to complete the exterior paint ahead of the celebration of life Joy has planned for early July.
"This RED Day partnership has been great because what is a little renovation for us is such a big difference for Joy,” added Scott Miller, one of the local HomeVestors franchisees. “Being a HomeVestor isn't just about making money, it's about helping the community.”
Community members supported the 24-Hour Home Makeover by donating to provide materials, supplies, time, and resources that directly impacted the transformation. Local sponsors that supported by donating time or other valuable resources included Archer & Co. Interiors, Arnold's Appliance, Barmac Painters, Brookey Insurance, Carmen Richter with Movement Mortgage, Doxsa Social House, Floor Coverings International, Greg Anderson with Team Anderson-Movement Mortgage, GrowNow Renovations, HomeVestors, Hyatt Regency Lake Washington, HydeWire Electric, KBuilt, Kitchen & Bath Transformations, Malone's Landscaping, Moving Made EZ, Neve Distributing, Puget Construction Services, Puget Sound Electrical Services, R.E. “This collaboration perfectly highlights how real estate and home services companies are working in local communities towards a world where everyone has a decent place to live,” said Josh Waltzer, CEO of HomeVestors. “Their hard work doesn’t just uplift homes; it transforms entire neighborhoods. We often get to assist people like Joy who are facing life challenges, and help them close painful chapters, which it was an honor to help do here.”
