September 22, 2026 // Franchising.com // BATON ROUGE, La. — A new stop for toasted subs, cold drinks and laid-back vibes is rolling into southeast Baton Rouge. Cheba Hut "Toasted" Subs, the counter-culture sandwich shop known for its chill atmosphere, cottonmouth cures, and bold flavors that hit just right, opens its second local shop on Oct. 2 at 14631 Village Market St.
To mark the occasion, the Long Farm shop is kicking off with a day of giveaways. In true Cheba fashion, the 420th customer through the door will score free Cheba Hut for a year. Merch and swag will be handed out throughout the day, including posters of the "Bayou of Misfits" mural and custom T-shirts, all available while supplies last.
The restaurant sits inside Long Farm Village, a 237-acre mixed-use community with walkable streets, a village green, footpaths and small lakes that make it the kind of place people live, work and linger. Cheba Hut lands right in the middle of it, designed to become a neighborhood hangout where people can grab a sandwich and a drink from the full-service bar pouring from eight taps, meet up with friends or simply stay awhile. The new spot was also intentionally designed with contactless pickup in mind, giving guests an easy option when grabbing their order on the go.
Behind the second location are Meredith Beck-Wiggins and Tommy Wiggins, operators with more than 50 years of combined hospitality experience, who have run the brand's Ben Hur Road restaurant near LSU since 2021. Meredith, a Louisiana Culinary Institute graduate, spent a decade running a bakery that supplied handcrafted goods to businesses. Tommy managed Maxwell's Market, a longtime local meat and wine shop, for 15 years.
"Our Ben Hur location will always be special, and we would not change a thing about it," said Meredith Beck-Wiggins, co-franchise owner. "Long Farm is its sister — same DNA, but a personality all its own. Same humor, same come-as-you-are welcome. We've lived in this area since 2009, so this one feels less like a business decision and more like a housewarming."
Like every destination across the Chebaverse, Long Farm tells a local story on its walls. The concept traces back to 2021, when the Wiggins traveled to Colorado for Cheba Hut training. Artist Damian Georgiev of Thunder Eyes Creative created the artwork for the centerpiece, a swamp scene inspired by the "Bayou of Misfits" concept, filled with Louisiana wildlife, homegrown scenery and playful, surreal details, along with Easter eggs and a few surprises tucked throughout the piece.
"Scott Jennings, our founder, described this brand as an island of misfit toys," said Beck-Wiggins. "My Louisiana take was that we don't have an island of misfits. We have a Bayou of Misfits. That stuck with me, and when we started developing Long Farm, it became the concept for the mural. A bayou is full of creatures that look nothing like each other, and every one of them belongs. That is Cheba Hut in Louisiana terms."
For buds walking in for the first time, Cheba Hut serves more than 30 signature toasted subs named for classic strains and available in Nug (4-inch), Pinner (8-inch) and Blunt (12-inch) sizes. Regulars reach for the White Widow, stacked with chicken, bacon and ranch. The Kali Mist turns up the heat on a club piled with turkey, pepper jack and more of that bacon. The Dank layers pepperoni, salami, marinara and melted mozzarella into a pizza-inspired build, and the Griefo goes green with cream cheese, avocado and fresh vegetables.
For something beyond the main event, the menu has plenty of options built for late-night cravings, from pretzel nugs and garlic cheese bread to Krispy Bars, goo balls and cookies, plus the Kool-Aid bar that’s been quenching thirst since day one.
Cheba Hut Long Farm will be open daily from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m.
And the Wiggins aren't finished. With plans to continue growing across South Louisiana, Long Farm marks the next step in Cheba Hut's expansion across the Pelican State.
With its mix of toasted sandwiches, unserious humor, neighborhood-first mindset and a disrespectful mascot named "Flip the Bird," Cheba Hut is ready to make Baton Rouge a little more dank, one sub at a time.
