Opening the business fulfills a goal the two have discussed for more than a decade: building something meaningful together that would allow them to serve their community, create a lasting family legacy and take greater control of their future.

Tom leads the company’s daily operations and works directly with customers, while Joe provides strategic leadership and business support behind the scenes. Together, they bring decades of professional and leadership experience to the new West Portland location.
A graduate of the University of Oregon, Tom has lived in Portland since 2018. Before joining The Glass Guru, he spent nearly 10 years in SaaS compliance sales, helping Fortune 1000 companies make responsible and ethical business decisions. That experience strengthened his belief in honest communication, dependable service and always doing what is right for the customer.
Joe brings more than 40 years of leadership experience in the technology and media industries. He earned degrees in political science, business and law from Ohio University and The Catholic University of America before building a career focused on leading businesses and helping organizations grow.
“Going into business with Tom is something we have talked about for years,” said Joe Ruble. “It is incredibly rewarding to finally see that vision become a reality. We found an established brand that gives us the support to succeed while allowing us to build a locally owned business around our own values.”
