October 28, 2026 // Franchising.com // As Veterans Day approaches, DreamMaker Bath & Kitchen is recognizing franchise owners and team members who have served in the military and those who are helping veterans in their communities.
In Ogden, Utah, DreamMaker Bath & Kitchen owner and military veteran Nate Coombs recently completed a bathroom makeover for a local Army veteran and his wife. The couple's original 1952 bathroom had become unsafe, especially because of the veteran's physical limitations resulting from his military service.
Coombs and his team replaced the old bath and shower area with a safer, more accessible design. The couple was selected from several applicants based on their personal needs and financial circumstances.
“As a veteran-owned company, we are deeply grateful for the sacrifices made by our nation’s service members,” Coombs said. “It is an honor to give back by providing Ryan with a safer, more accessible bathroom that will improve his comfort, independence, and quality of life for years to come.”
Coombs and his business partner, Kevin Hansen, were also named 2026 Franchisees of the Year by the International Franchise Association for their business leadership, community involvement and service to others.
In Reno, Nevada, DreamMaker Bath & Kitchen owner Shawn Colvin and his team have been helping Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 9211, known locally as The Bunker. DreamMaker remodeled the Post's men's and women's bathrooms, providing all labor at no cost and working with suppliers who donated materials.
The Reno location is also holding a Veterans Day raffle for a bathroom remodel, with proceeds supporting local veterans and VFW Post 9211.
“Our veterans deserve spaces that reflect dignity, comfort and care,” said Colvin. “This project is a small way for our team and our vendor partners to honor their service and ensure the Post remains a welcoming place for the community.”
In Aiken, South Carolina, former Marine Tyler Springer was named DreamMaker Bath & Kitchen's 2026 Lead Carpenter of the Year. Springer is known for mentoring younger apprentices, sharing lessons learned during weekly meetings and earning the trust of his coworkers and clients.
Supporting veterans also has family roots at DreamMaker. Founder and Chief Stewarding Officer Doug Dwyer joined the International Franchise Association's VetFran committee in 2023 and is currently serving as Chair. His father, Don Dwyer Sr., founded VetFran in 1991 to help veterans explore business ownership through franchising. As part of the VetFran program, veterans who purchase a DreamMaker franchise receive a 20% discount on their franchise fee.
