Arby's Reaches Milestone with New Restaurant Design

Arby’s has announced the opening of its 1,000th Inspire design restaurant — a reveal that marks a major milestone in the restaurant chain’s quest to deliver exceptional service to its guests and enhanced value to its franchisees. With the completion of the Pearland, Texas restaurant, nearly one-third of Arby’s global system of over 3,400 restaurants now features the Inspire design.

Greg Vojnovic, Chief Development Officer of Inspire Brands, joined multi-unit franchisee Guillermo Perales, Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Sun Holdings, to celebrate the restaurant opening just south of Houston. Perales currently operates 85 Arby’s restaurants, with additional units in development, making him the second largest franchisee and one of the brand’s biggest champions.

“Guillermo Perales is one of our industry’s most accomplished franchisees,” said Vojnovic. “We’re thrilled that he continues to be such a strong member of our franchise system.”

The Inspire design reflects the reinvigoration of the Arby’s brand. The innovative format reduces development costs, expands site selection options, delivers an upgraded guest experience, and provides multiple operation models to drive value for the brand and its franchises. Warm and welcoming, the flexible concept is resonating with Arby’s franchisees, many of whom played a key role in developing the new restaurant image when it was introduced in 2014.

Many revitalized restaurants have seen significant benefits from the change. On average, Arby’s restaurants with the new design have posted 10 percent higher average unit volumes and are 11 percent more energy efficient than its non-Inspire design restaurants.

“The Inspire design is the perfect representation of where the Arby’s brand is today,” added Vojnovic. “As we continue to build more of these restaurants around the world, we’re excited about where the brand is headed this year and beyond.”

Arby’s is expanding at a healthy pace while many others in the industry are experiencing net closures or a slower pace of growth. Through the end of 2017, Arby’s reached seven consecutive years of positive same-store sales growth and two consecutive years of net unit restaurant growth.
