Massage Envy Spa Opens 1000th Clinic In 2014 And Expands Into 49th State

Leading Massage Therapy Franchise Opens More Than 100 New Locations and Reaches $1 Billion in System-Wide Sales

January 12, 2015 // Franchising.com // SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. - Massage Envy Spa, the pioneer and national leader of professional, convenient and affordable massage and spa services, announced today substantial growth and success in 2014 highlighted by $1 billion earned in system-wide sales. In 2014, Massage Envy Spa also opened 112 clinics across the country, including its 1,000th location in Exton, Pennsylvania. The brand also expanded into West Virginia, which marked the company's entrance into its 49th state, and also opened its first three locations in New York City. Massage Envy Spa will be targeting Wyoming for expansion in 2015, which will officially bring the brand to all 50 states.

According to FRANdata, the franchise industry's source for objective information and analysis, only 2.4 percent of franchised brands operate 1,000 or more units.

Today, there are 1,052 Massage Envy Spa locations in 49 states, making it the largest system of franchised massage clinics in the industry. The company is also the world's largest employer of licensed/registered massage therapists with more than 21,000 therapists and 3,000 estheticians providing over 16 million massages a year to more than 1.5 million members and guests.

Franchisee candidates should have business sales or management experience, but do not necessarily need to have a massage therapy or spa operations background. They also should possess a minimum net worth of $500,000 and liquid assets of at least $150,000. Depending on the real estate, Massage Envy Spa franchisees can expect their initial investment to range from approximately $412,600 – $938,900, including the franchisee fee.
