BRENHAM, Texas - May 12, 2014 // PRNewswire // - Lowell Nix has enjoyed life in Brenham for the last 30 years. On Thursday, May 15 at 11:00a.m., Nix will bring slow smoked barbecue to town when he opens the newest Dickey's Barbecue Pit. To celebrate, the new Brenham location is hosting a three-day grand opening celebration. The first 50 guests will receive a gift card for up to $50.

Friday, the new Dickey's Barbecue Pit will be offering all day merchandise giveaways. Saturday, radio station KTEX 106.1 will be onsite from noon to 2:00 p.m. and this location will be serving $2 pulled pork barbecue sandwiches. Also, one lucky winner will be chosen for a $500 gift card and three winners will receive free barbecue for an entire year.
Nix's family has a long line of business owners in the Brenham community. His great grandfather Carl Glissman owned a Pharmacy in downtown Brenham and his grandfather "Buck" Greenwade was a city engineer in Brenham. His mother is City Councilman Gloria Nix. Nix considers serving slow smoked meat to the Brenham community just another way to continue the family legacy.
