November 03, 2015 // Franchising.com // Norwich, CT - Jersey Mike’s Subs, known for its fresh sliced/fresh grilled subs, opened in Norwich on October 28. Franchise owners, Mohegan Restaurant (JM Subs), LLC, a business diversification entity of Mohegan Holding Company, LLC, of the Mohegan Tribe, held a grand opening and free sub fundraiser from Wednesday, October 28 to Sunday, November 1 to support Special Olympics Connecticut and United Community and Family Services.
The new restaurant, located in Norwichtown Commons at 36-44 Town St., circulated 10,000 coupons throughout the community offering a free regular sub for a minimum $2 contribution to Special Olympics Connecticut or United Community and Family Services.
“The city of Norwich and the Mohegan Tribe have an engrained and shared history that goes all the way back to the time of Uncas. Because Norwich holds special meaning to the Tribe, we are happy to become a part of its business community through the Mohegan Holding Company and Jersey Mike’s,” said Kevin Brown, “Red Eagle,” Chairman of the Mohegan Tribe. “Much like the Tribe, Jersey Mike’s also places high value on community spirit and giving back. We are especially glad to support both Special Olympics Connecticut and United Community and Family Services through fundraising efforts in our opening days.”
In February 2015, Jersey Mike’s awarded 10 restaurants in New England to Mohegan Restaurant and in April, the company awarded two additional locations. The awarded territory covers Connecticut, Rhode Island and the southern section of Worcester County in Massachusetts. The first location, in Meriden, Connecticut, opened in August.
