June 13, 2024 // Franchising.com // BALTIMORE - Sylvan Learning transferred ownership of the Reston, Virginia center to first-time franchise owner Florence Monkam.
Monkam was an engineer before entering education nearly two decades ago. She was a math teacher and owned her own tutoring business in Europe. After moving to the U.S. in 2023, she knew she wanted to stay in education and invest in a meaningful business.
“When it came to choosing a franchise, I knew Sylvan was exactly where I wanted to be,” said Monkam. “I attended college in the states, so I already knew Sylvan’s reputation for results. I’m excited for the opportunity to run my own business, all while making a lasting impact in my community.”
