October 05, 2026 // Franchising.com // DANVILLE, Calif. – Fifteen years after opening its first café in the Bay Area, Vitality Bowls has grown a family-inspired mission into a nationwide superfood café brand serving communities across the country. This October, the brand known for its açaí bowls, smoothies and health-focused menu is celebrating its 15th anniversary while reflecting on the people, innovation and purpose that have shaped its growth since 2011.
To thank guests for being part of the journey, Vitality Bowls is extending the celebration throughout its anniversary weekend. October 16 to 18, guests can receive $5 off orders of $15 or more when ordering through the Vitality Bowls app at participating cafés.
“When Roy and I opened the first Vitality Bowls café 15 years ago, we were motivated by something deeply personal: creating a place where people could find nutritious, allergy-friendly food they could feel good about,” said Tara Gilad, Co-Founder and President of Vitality Bowls. “To see that idea grow from one café into 70+ communities across the country is incredibly meaningful. So much has evolved over the years, but the purpose that started Vitality Bowls continues to be at the heart of who we are today.”
Founded by Roy and Tara Gilad in 2011, Vitality Bowls was born from the couple’s desire to find safe, healthy food alternatives after discovering their daughter’s severe food allergies. That personal mission became the foundation for a concept centered on high-quality ingredients, superfoods and meals designed to accommodate a variety of dietary needs.
Since opening its first café, Vitality Bowls has sold 15,554,825 açaí bowls nationwide, including 973,703 in the past year alone. While açaí has remained at the heart of Vitality Bowls for 15 years, the brand has continued evolving alongside its guests. Its menu has expanded beyond açaí bowls and smoothies to include salads, wraps, grain bowls and other savory offerings, while innovations such as Harvest Kitchen, Vitality Bowls’ virtual brand offering protein-packed, nutrient-rich meals, have created new ways for guests to enjoy the brand throughout different parts of their day. This year, Harvest Kitchen introduced catering, providing an additional way for guests to enjoy its savory menu at meetings, gatherings and community events.
That evolution has extended beyond the menu. Vitality Bowls continued expanding its national footprint in 2026 with new cafés in New Jersey, North Carolina and Texas while additional locations remain in development across new and existing markets. The continued growth builds on the brand’s 15-year commitment to bringing health-focused dining options to more communities nationwide.
“Reaching 15 years is something we're incredibly proud of, but we're even more energized by where Vitality Bowls is headed next,” said Roy Gilad, Co-Founder and CEO of Vitality Bowls. “We’ve continued to evolve the menu, find new ways to serve our guests and bring Vitality Bowls into new communities, all while staying true to the mission that started the brand. There is still tremendous opportunity ahead of us, and we're excited to build on everything we've accomplished over the past 15 years.”
