May 30, 2013 // Franchising.com // Cincinnati, Ohio - Sub sandwich franchise Penn Station East Coast Subs has been ranked number seven on the annual Fast Casual Movers and Shakers List, which lists the most successful restaurants in this category each year. Penn Station East Coast Subs received this placement based on their innovation, branding, growth and overall success.
During 2012, the chain opened 21 new restaurants, entering various markets across the country. President Craig Dunaway plans to open 40 new locations during 2013 and add up to 45 units by the end of 2014. The menu features a variety of grilled and cold deli subs, as well as fresh, hand-cut French fries, hand-squeezed lemonade and chocolate chunk cookies baked fresh in the restaurant.
“We are excited to be recognized for our growth this past year,” said Dunaway. “We are going to continue expansion in the next years, while upholding a high standard of food quality and customer service.”
Originally founded in Cincinnati, Ohio in 1985, Penn Station is an upscale, fast-casual restaurant renowned for its legendary Philadelphia Cheesesteak Sub sandwich. Penn Station has almost 300 restaurants in 13 states including Ohio, Illinois, Indiana, Kansas, Kentucky, Michigan, Missouri, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Tennessee, Virginia and West Virginia. All but one location is franchised. Projections call for the opening of 40 restaurants in 2013 and 45 in 2014.
