IFA Announces Facebook as New Member; Will offer Franchise Small Businesses Tools to Spur Job Creation

Will Offer Franchise Small Businesses Tools To Spur Job Creation

WASHINGTON, Oct.21, 2011-The International Franchise Association, representing the nation's over 825,000 franchise establishments, nearly 18 million jobs and over $2.1 trillion in economic output, today announced that Facebook, the world's largest social networking site with more than 800 million active users, has joined the association to spur job creation in the franchise small business industry by connecting franchisors and franchisees with tools to grow their franchise systems and better connect with customers in their communities.

"Amidst a continued-challenging economic environment for small businesses, franchise businesses are increasingly seeking to enhance how they develop prospective franchise leads to grow their systems and how existing franchisees can more effectively connect with consumers at the local level," said IFA President & CEO Steve Caldeira. "As a world leader in connecting people in a trusted environment online, Facebook's involvement with the IFA will help franchise businesses drive sales and create jobs."

"Franchise businesses of all sizes are partnering with Facebook to help improve their connection to their customers, and grow their business," said Facebook Vice President of U.S. Public Policy Joel Kaplan. "Joining the IFA is part of Facebook's continued commitment to helping local entrepreneurs build their businesses, deliver value to their customers and create new jobs in their communities."
With Facebook's suite of Page, Check-In, and ad-targeting tools, franchise small businesses can acquire and engage with their customers at scale. A big part of Facebook's goals in joining the IFA will be both to hear from franchisors and franchisees on their marketing needs, as well as to educate businesses on how to use the Facebook platform as an engine of growth for their brands.

IFA's 52nd Annual Convention theme, "Come Build With Us," highlights the franchise industry's focus on how franchising builds local businesses, one opportunity at a time. The 52nd annual event will help attract upwards of 3,000 franchise community professionals seeking to build on their franchise expertise and professional networks through unrivalled educational content, professional development opportunities and the exhibit hall showcase.

IFA will be offering news and updates about additional keynote speakers and educational and networking sessions on its Facebook page and on Twitter (@franchising411) using the hashtag #IFA2012. For more information, visit http://www.franchise.org/convention.aspx.
